Enjoying + Inspiring
I am going to be away for the next couple days attending the Craft + Hobby Show in Chicago. While I am away I wanted to share some things that have been inspiring me lately:
Brene Brown's Imperfect Parenting Series : especially this post on embracing imperfection
Truthful Things About Being An Artist And A Mother by Keri Smith
Shutter Sisters Flash Bulb Necklace
And here are some of the blogs/sites from my that I check out most days (some I have mentioned before and others are new):
Kirtsy : always something interesting here
I LOVE Unclutterer. I was the workplace of the week a while back. I'll have to check out the other's you listed.

Just this week I've had the opportunity to read a bit of your patterned paper book. It struck me that you have a lot of pictures of yourself, alone and with your family, often doing things - they don't appear to be portraits, but rather real-life shots. How do you get those? Does Chris take a lot of pictures? or do you use a tripod frequently? Or have others who are involved with that? An example is the coffee-making picture on p. 144.

WOAH. Thank you for the link to Brene Brown's blog.. I am single and not a parent BUT I work with a large group of junior high girls at church in a "small" group and also the rest of the youth group (ages 12-21).. What Brene mentions in the imperfect parenting series opened my eyes to the fact I need to give of myself to them - being authentic and open. And that I can help nurture these kids.
AND I have five nephews and one niece (ages 1 to 17) whom I can help nurture as well.
Thanks for the link!!

I just got lost in the Kirtsy site. I guess I just spent 2 1/2 hours going through as much craft and links (some sad, some beautiful), what a wonderful trip!!! So dangerous reading your site!!!

Hi Ali,
Just a coincidence but i have been reading Brene Brown's blog Ordinary Courage for the last few months and have her CD. She is great, very real and has fantastic advice on parenting.I too feel shame and guilt at times of 'imperfecting parenting' however its never too late to learn.
Love your blog, always poking in each day to see what inspires you. Many thanks Meri

I enjoyed Keri Smith's perspective on the merge of motherhood and artistry. Sometimes I think that there really are no words. She did a good job conveying the waves of emotion that rush in.
Happy summer. That Simon sure is growing like a sunflower!

Thank you so much for the inspiration links. I especially love "Apartment Therapy". Some of the ideas on there are just so out of the box. Did you see the miilk crate chandelier idea? I may not put it to use today but someday...
