The Story : Hello life. Hello outdoor fun. Hello Oregon Coast and the freedom to run and roam. Hello wind. Hello waves. Hello grass. Hello sand between your toes. Hello fresh air. Hello exploration. Hello cold July breeze. Hello family. Hello dogs on the beach running in the water. Hello fireworks. Hello trail. Hello snacks after a long journey on the beach. Hello clams. Hello sand in your socks. Hello silliness. Hello summer. Hello early to bed and early to rise. Hello good times and  great memories.

A couple of my favorite things occur on this layout :

(1)
handwriting directly on the photo using a Precision Pen from American Crafts - this photo was enlarged and printed here at home. Slick Writers also work great for writing on photos. I am always on the lookout for photos with spaces just waiting for stories.

(2) Repeating the same word for the beginning of each phrase in the journaling. This is a very stream-of-consciousness style writing that does not include complete senctences. By choosing one word to begin each phrase it helps me focus on what I want to say and leads my journaling in different ways than if I was just trying to write out each of the memories.

Dottedline

Dotnroller
I was looking around on Scrapbook.com this morning and found that my most favorite adhesive - the permanent Dot N Roller from Kokuyo - is now available in a 6-pack.

I first learned about this adhesive when I taught at CKU-Japan a few years back. At that time it was only available in Japan and I have a friend (hi, Ikuko) who would send me some in bulk because it quickly became my favorite.

So happy to have it easily available in the US now.

    Hi Ali!
Just ordered a couple of the Kokuyos and a couple 7 Gypsies file folder albums - hoping they'll arrive around the same time your new book does and I'll be all set to start creating when the twins are back to school in September.
Thanks for the info. and the inspiration!

I tried this today by starting with a print out of a 5X7 and leaving some "white space" to write in the margin...figured I could cut it off if it failed that way. I kept it.
Just one word, not nearly this much of a commitment. I think we all have to know how you got the layout so well.
Thought: my son, now that he can read, says, "Mom, why did you write this in THAT CURSIVE...I CAN'T READ CURVSIVE!"
So, now I'm trying to make myself print more of his younger jounraling so he can read and enjoy it without me.

    Hi Ali,
I've left comments almost daily but I never see them posted. All I can say is you have made a glorious layout and very clever journaling. Oh, I must add the journaling is very effective. I wish my kids were young so I could make great lo's like this one. I can make the LO but no picture! Not as much fun.

First of all, Congrats!!!When I read your post about your pregnancy, I screamed down the hall to my husband, "Ali is going to have another baby!" He said, "Huh?" Anyway I am so excited for you and your family. Best Wishes! Now about this awesome page: This is why I love your style, 'scrapbooking is about the photos and the story' and you showcase that perfectly here in this layout. Love it!

    Kokuyo is the best!
My DH had bought a few of the refills last Christmas thinking they were the whole package. Well soon after, we went to Orlando to meet with our friends for a mini vacation and my BFF and i stopped at a LSS where i found the holder for it...so needless to say thanks to my DH i have a new adhesive that i just LOVE!
And thanks for sharing that it's available in bulk, b/c i had to buy out the LSS (which i'm happy they sell it!) whenever they have it in stock!

I love repeating the first letter or first word in my journaling. It gives what you've written this structure that might not happen otherwise. I did a layout inspired by the old Musee d'Orsay website design { http://www.flickr.com/photos/kdlc/913060472/in/set-72157600493329514 }where I repeated the U-S combination of letters to start every sentence. It's one of my favorite layouts for the journaling and the simplicity.
