My word for the year is alive. I didn't see it in your post. This is my year to come alive again after two very difficult years where I was just going through the motions of day to day stuff. I love this idea, it is so inspiring. Love your blog Ali!

My word is WARRIOR. It is the meaning of my name, Kelli. I always hated the meaning, but now I kind of like it. I have lived through a lot and fought for it. Now I need to shed those pounds again, and I have to be a warrior to meet my challenges and goals. So I will be a warrior this year.

Sorry I'm a little late in posting my word but I still wanted to share. My word for 2009 is DIVINE. I want to connect with it not only in the spiritual sense but also in the descriptive sense. I want to experience divine moments, I want to be able to describe my life as divine. I want to make divine creations, eat food that is divine, drink wine that is divine. I also want to rekindle my relationship with the Divine. 2009 is going to be Divine!(cheesy rhyme I know):)

Last year was full of the unknown. My husband suffered a heart attack in August of 08 and needs 4 operations including open heart. We have one surgery completed and 3 more to go in 2009. The doctors also found a mass in his chest cavity that they're trying to diagnos properly. The fear of losing him was all consuming last year and robbing me of my present joy while I have him with me today. My word is FEEL. I don't want to dwell on the "what if' of tomorrow. I want to feel today and what it feels like to have him with me right here and now. With this word as my focus, I believe, I'm better equiped to put the uncertainty aside as I feel (acknowledge) the moments that arise with gratitude. This way I can ensure I won't miss a blessing that could be right around the corner. I need to remember this word as we meet the challenges ahead of us.

Inwardness: I have this hunger for the Holy and the Sacred… and for paying attention… not wanting to miss the moments where the Sacred stoops and touches and communes with the profane…

This is very inspiring. I thought a word for 2009? So I took out the journal I just made and charted many words, A-Z on how I can start and keep the year going using words that can make the changes I want to accomplish. Become, Commitment, Do, Example, Finish, Go, Health, Invest, Intention, Journey, Live, Motivate, NOW, Overcome, perserverance, Quiet, Ready, Renew, Stop, Today, Unfold, Vision, Worth, Yes, Zeal can help anyone accomplish album pages, or keeping to a new years resolution to the end of the year. What a challenge and a word for the day. If we run out, pick up a dictionary and find another word!

Compassion. My word is compassion, as I need to "practice compassion" with myself, and others. So that is my goal this year.

    My word: Survive.
So much strife, trials and tribulations, dealing with job loss and loss of loved ones. With sickness and and depression, I will myself to Survive. To stick with it and to keep going knowing that better times are on the horizon and it is not a mirage.

My word for 2009 is EMBRACE. I've always liked this word because it projects positive energy. As I launch forward to 2009, I personally want to embrace goodness, differences, adversity, and challenges in my life so that I may be able to learn from myself to better manage my emotions, conflicts, and insecurities in a more positive light. Life is too short to channel negativity and harbour bad feelings so embrace resonates with me as a theme to live by in the new year so that I can not only help myself become a better person but also set an example to those around me.

    Ali,
I've given much thought to my word for the year. So many words seemed applicable to my life right now. But one evening after many tears and sadness over a life situation, my fiance asked me if I would just give myself permisssion to be happy. Could I do that? The concept struck me hard. I realized I've never given myself permission in so many wonderful areas of life. My word for 2009 is PERMISSION, and it's long overdue...
