Three Things + 1 : Lots of Love (and giveaways)

Threethingsjan14

This week we are taking a peek at a couple Valentine/Love related products. Look for another round of three next week - there are just too many cool things out there for creating projects that celebrate those you love.

• Thinking a little tiny bit about Valentine projects (must be all the pink). Planning to use my new "Loving Stamps" from Technique Tuesday on something Valentine related. You can also pick up a similar digital version called "Loving Life Word Art." You can download the new Technique Tuesday 2009 Winter Supplement (pdf)
to see the entire line of stamps (or go here).

• Speaking of Valentine's, one of my favorite product lines from CHA last summer
(the big Craft & Hobby show) was from Little Yellow Bicycle called "Love Letters." I love the cardstock stickers (shown above),

• This wonderful print that is going to hang somewhere in my house (maybe in the baby's room or a bathroom) from isophotography (found via poppytalk handmade). It would make a great gift for a loved one.

• And one more lovey thing I couldn't resist this week: little love notes tickets from Making Memories.

Valentine's Day is my absolute favorite holiday! When we were teenagers my sister and I were grumping around complaining about the lack of boyfriends and when we went to bed that night there was a Valentine from Dad on our pillows saying he loved us more than any old boyfriend could. (I think I need to scrap that!) Before I had kids I would send valentine's to EVERYONE I knew and I also used the occasion to send out "thank yous" to anybody who'd been especially helpful through the year. But now the celebration is even more special because our twins were born on Valentine's Day (I was so happy!). They will be 7 this year. It's just a big love fest all day! XX's

We don't do all that much compared to some of your other readers. Dinner with my husband and my son and cards is about it. My husband's birthday is two days before so that's a bigger deal here.

We like to send out Valentine cards instead of Christmas cards. So that will be started soon. On the big day, I like to make a big breakfast and make some strawberry sauce to go over the pancakes. I like to make a nice dinner for the family too and end with oooeeyy gooooey brownies.

We celebrate by having a spaghetti dinner together...my kids favorite! We always exchange a little trinket, nothing big, just enjoy the time together. Last year, I made my husband a Love Notes book and we have left each other little notes throughout the year.. the book has become a real treasure. I am planning on doing one for each of my girls.

Great giveaways! I love Valentine's Day! I create little love notes for my hubby and have my son make handmade Valentine's to send to the grandparents and for Daddy. Plus I always give my son a goody bag.

Every year I make a fresh loaf of bread on Valentines morning. Everyone loves to wake up to the smell of the baking bread. Such a simple thing, but it makes everyone feel loved.

I usually cook the first dinner i ever cooked for my husband before we were married. We've done this for 34 years now. It's not really work and it keeps us out of the masses trying to go out to eat..:)

Wow...I didn't know that you folks celebrate Valentines Day so big! I am afraid I have to say we don't. I don't even get a flower because DH says that he isn't willing to pay the high prices on valentine day.
Hmm...looking through your ideas maybe I will create a new tradition!
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi Ali,
My husband is a basketball referee and I think every year but one since we've been married (almost 8 years), he's had a game on Valentine's night! So....we usually go out for a romantic date night either the night before or after Valentine's Day. I suppose the bright side is that you don't ever have to wait to get right in at a restaurant on the day before or after Valentine's Day! Hahaha!
Hope you have a great day!
    Dawn

This year my husband of 32+ years and I will be celebrating Valentine's Day in the Caribbean. I'm thinking a mimosa to start the day, sun, sun and more sun and a very nice dinner (prepared by anyone but me!). It should be a very special day and time for us.
Great giveaways, Ali. Anxious to see what you will do with the Valentine products.

My DH and I each prepare a "surprise" food for each other, one gets to do the mail dish, the other the dessert. It is always a magical combination!

Valentine's day is my FAVORITE holiday, i usually start my baking a week before, i make cupcakes and cookies, and on the day of my husband and i share a special home cooked meal, saves us money, and we appreciate it more... now that we have a little one, i'll have to add new traditions to share with him. have a wonderful day.

My daughter, who is almost five, says that Valentine's Day is her favorite holiday because it's all about love. I've been writing her love notes since she was born and want to keep doing that as she gets older. Though we tell her we love her all year long, she enjoys the special day that's all about love.

We don't really have a tradition for Valentine's Day. We usually go out the weekend before or after to avoid the crowd.

    Hi Ali!
Love all of the products! I was able to meet my grand niece yesterday and so I too am thinking about pink :) She's beautiful.
For Valentine's my husband, son, and I spend the evening with dinner and a small gift exchange. The boys usually give me flowers and chocolate and we just have a nice, quiet evening.
Good luck to you in the coming weeks and days. I'm so excited for you.

My 5 year old twin girls enjoy making cards (with so much glitter glue it takes a day or two to dry) and cookies topped with sprinkles to share at school -- my husband usually brings home "treats" for us --I better start reminding him ;)
