Wednesday Giveaway : Superhero

Superhero

Today I want to celebrate a wonderful blogger, jewelry artist, mother, and life coach who has become a friend: Andrea Scher of Superhero Designs. [ photo below by Boho Girl Denise Andrade ]

Andrea is the reason I began blogging back in 2004. I was working on a project for a workshop about designing with color (& color inspiration) and was searching the internet using the search terms "colorful jewelry." I stumbled onto Andrea's Superhero site (and of course I had to order a handmade necklace as part of my research), started reading her blog and checking out all her inspiring links, and decided then and there that what she was doing was cool and I wanted to start my own blog.

I finally got to meet Andrea in person last summer after corresponding back and forth from time to time over the past four years. It was awesome. She has a heart of gold, a wonderful written voice, and a gift for helping people get in touch with their own inner superhero.

Today, lucky readers, Andrea is giving away a one of her fantastic, colorful bead necklaces. In addition, she has a special holiday sale happening now that includes $20 off necklaces bead necklaces. Passion would make a great gift for a special friend (or a suggestion for a spouse who may need a little help in choosing a Valentine gift).

Here's a little FAQ on her lovely necklaces. She has also added these very cool silver pendant necklaces to her offerings.

To be entered into the drawing today leave a comment that highlights your own personal superpower (or superpowers). And before you think you have none, stop and consider the possibility
for a moment. What is something you are just awesome at? Take a
minute to be proud of something about ourselves and share it publicly.
I bet you are your very own superhero in some very special way.

Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winner posted shortly after.

My superpower is multi-tasking. People always ask me "how I do it all"...but to me it just seems normal. =)

My superpower is best described in one of my favorite FaceBook Flairs..."I teach! What's your superpower?" Teaching comes naturally to me and I'm good at it!

Well, it is a really cool necklace. My superpower would have to be the love I have for my 4 kiddos. Thankfully, from somewhere deep inside, comes a never-ending flow.

My superpower is being able to talk people (mostly my mom) through their problems. My mom's life is so stressful right now, as her own mother is ill with cancer. I am so happy that I'm able to help my mom by listening and being her shoulder to cry on.
My other superpower is being able to read my husband and kids. They don't always like it, but it's pretty easy for me to know what they're feeling... and sometimes what they're about to do.

    Hi Ali,
I think the most powerful superpower you can have is the power to inspire others and support/encourage them in what they do. And while i'm slowly learning that superpower, my mom has it in abundance and it's because of that superpower that i have mine. I never hesistate to take the opportunity to enjoy the things around me and try new things. She's given me the power to be adventurous and explore and never stop learning. What better superpower than the passion to learn?
btw: great idea. love the colours!

I am supermom, to my kids I can resolve any problem in a single second, chase away any hurt with a kiss and create a fun game out of thin air. I am constantly amazed at their faith in my abality to right all that is wrong in their little worlds; it's too bad one day they'll discover I am only human; but right now it's great to be supermom to my superkids!

My superpower is baking. And I believe in doing it often! If I'm lucky and this winter storm doesn't take our power out, I'm making "The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies in the World" today and icing them up for a scrapbooking crop I'm hosting at our church on Friday!

This is a great comment idea :-)
My superpower (or god-given gift, which is how I see it) is listening. God gave me the ability to just listen to others, to really hear what they say, and respond if they need it.
Andrea's jewelry is amazing -- I would LOVE to be the winner of this one!!

I'm a superpower homemaker - no I don't get to work from home or stay home with my son. I work full time, so that our husband can stay home with our little boy. But I do make our house a home, I fill it with love and compassion. Mix in a little cooking and some creativity. Put colors up on our wall. Take family pictures to hang. Thanks for all your inspiration Ali and for being a superhero to us.

I think I am a darn good mom. I never feel like I have enough time with my little man since I work full time, but I always try to make the best of the time we do have together. So, I too, like many others here, think my superhero talent lies in my ability to provide a loving nurturing home for my 13 month old. love the necklace!

I guess I would have to say I have the gift of hospitality. Making a card for a friend who is having a bad day, a meal for a new mom, a cake for our playgroup friend who's husband left her right after Christmas (yes, he really did). I really do love to help other people.

I'm a really good communicator. At work and at home. I send cards, emails, schedule meetings, and I try to be fair, see others' points of view, and bring others into the conversation. My work is really important, but it's the people who are more important.

I would have to say that my superpower is that of forgiveness. Over the last few years I have really learned what it is all about.

I think to be a mom you have to be a superhero. You have to get meals, homework, household chores, take care of kids/ husband and also hold down a job all at the same time. I think I have the super powers of multi tasking and organization. There are days I don't kow how I do it but I just make it work. Beautiful jewelry!

My superpower is adding the "fluff" to the everyday stuff. Sometimes it is the cute packaging, sometimes it is the candles on the table, sometimes it is the fun decorations, sometimes it is the warm cookies when the kids get off of the bus. Little things that let people know that I've been thinking of them...
