Wednesday Giveaway : Superhero
Today I want to celebrate a wonderful blogger, jewelry artist, mother, and life coach who has become a friend: Andrea Scher of Superhero Designs. [ photo below by Boho Girl Denise Andrade ]
Andrea is the reason I began blogging back in 2004. I was working on a project for a workshop about designing with color (& color inspiration) and was searching the internet using the search terms "colorful jewelry." I stumbled onto Andrea's Superhero site (and of course I had to order a handmade necklace as part of my research), started reading her blog and checking out all her inspiring links, and decided then and there that what she was doing was cool and I wanted to start my own blog.
I finally got to meet Andrea in person last summer after corresponding back and forth from time to time over the past four years. It was awesome. She has a heart of gold, a wonderful written voice, and a gift for helping people get in touch with their own inner superhero.
Today, lucky readers, Andrea is giving away a one of her fantastic, colorful bead necklaces. In addition, she has a special holiday sale happening now that includes $20 off necklaces bead necklaces. Passion would make a great gift for a special friend (or a suggestion for a spouse who may need a little help in choosing a Valentine gift).
Here's a little FAQ on her lovely necklaces. She has also added these very cool silver pendant necklaces to her offerings.
To be entered into the drawing today leave a comment that highlights your own personal superpower (or superpowers). And before you think you have none, stop and consider the possibility
for a moment. What is something you are just awesome at? Take a
minute to be proud of something about ourselves and share it publicly.
I bet you are your very own superhero in some very special way.
Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winner posted shortly after.
I have 2 superhero talents. The first is cleaning up projectile vomit - yes, both my kids were very good at this for quite a while. Now that they are older, I am good at listening with patience and without judgement, which has taken a LOT of practice!

My superpower is the ability to understand people and take care of them. I'm like the family "handler" and the secret keeper. They come to me, confide in me and I help them through whatever it is. I also HAVE to take care of them - cook for them, pick up their favorite treat if they're having a blah day - silly stuff that puts a smile on their faces ... it's just part of who I am.

What a great thought to ponder this morning! I would say that my superpower is baking love. I make an awesome brownie and it seems that the act of giving a home-baked goodie brings love and sunshine to the recipient...they keep asking for more! Thanks for offering the wonderful prize!

Helping kids learn to write. I just started working in my son's school, and my favorite part is helping the kindergartners figure out how to write their thoughts on paper. Seeing their eyes light up when they get each letter correct is heaven, and the hugs I receive from them as thanks is pure bliss. I've never thought of myself as a superpower type of person, but if I can help even one child navigate the world of words, I'd say that's pretty darn super!

I am a super teacher. I am the one that not only teach my subject, but that also knows (and cares) when one of my students have a bad day, or are just not coping with life. I teach more than knowledge, I teach life skills and have had many students come back years down the line to thank me for teaching them something I didn't even know I taught.

At this moment, I feel like my superpower is being a teacher to my 4 y/o son. It's not an easy task to teach letters and numbers to somebody that doesn't want to stop and learn. So I've had to use my super powers to sneak a little learning time into a lot of play time ;)

My superhero power is that I am super fast. I can fly through the house and get everyone (including dh) to get ready and in the car in a superhero sdecond. I can wash and put away dishes alot faster than dh and the laundry ... wash and fold and put away in a whirl wind. No wonder I'm exhausted and the end of the day!

I don't have kiddos - so no super mommy stuff! I feel like I'm more of a jack-of-all-trades, master of none kinda gal - but if I had to pick one thing out I think I do pretty well...it would be to lighten the mood. I usually have a smile on my face and have no problem laughing at myself!

This is awesome. You find the best inspirational people.
One of my superpowers is that I'm the voice of reason. While Inside I may be shaking or freaking out outside I calmly help others work through problems. I can also make a great cup of hot cocoa according to my kids and with the recent snow in Virginia that is a necessary power.
Love your blog, Ali. Wishing you all the happiness with the newest member of your family-to-be!
