Wednesday Giveaway : Superhero

Superhero

Today I want to celebrate a wonderful blogger, jewelry artist, mother, and life coach who has become a friend: Andrea Scher of Superhero Designs. [ photo below by Boho Girl Denise Andrade ]

Andrea is the reason I began blogging back in 2004. I was working on a project for a workshop about designing with color (& color inspiration) and was searching the internet using the search terms "colorful jewelry." I stumbled onto Andrea's Superhero site (and of course I had to order a handmade necklace as part of my research), started reading her blog and checking out all her inspiring links, and decided then and there that what she was doing was cool and I wanted to start my own blog.

I finally got to meet Andrea in person last summer after corresponding back and forth from time to time over the past four years. It was awesome. She has a heart of gold, a wonderful written voice, and a gift for helping people get in touch with their own inner superhero.

Today, lucky readers, Andrea is giving away a one of her fantastic, colorful bead necklaces. In addition, she has a special holiday sale happening now that includes $20 off necklaces bead necklaces. Passion would make a great gift for a special friend (or a suggestion for a spouse who may need a little help in choosing a Valentine gift).

Here's a little FAQ on her lovely necklaces. She has also added these very cool silver pendant necklaces to her offerings.

To be entered into the drawing today leave a comment that highlights your own personal superpower (or superpowers). And before you think you have none, stop and consider the possibility
for a moment. What is something you are just awesome at? Take a
minute to be proud of something about ourselves and share it publicly.
I bet you are your very own superhero in some very special way.

Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winner posted shortly after.

I think this is a bit of a hard one. I think my superpower is love. I am pretty good at loving most people and making the ones around me feel very loved.

I am really really good at convincing people I know what they are talking about, even when I don't have a clue. I'm quick to research later, but this skill has saved me many times at work.

I think my superpower is brainstorming/creative thinking (although lately I haven't been using this skill much!).

I remember when you highlighted her beautiful jewelry before. I thought they were so lovely and fun. I was just at her sight on Monday trying to decide which necklace I would choose for myself. Its tough to decide.... My superhero quality would be the love that I have for my husband and son.

    Love that necklace!
My first superpower was managing (through many trials and tribulations) to breastfeed both of my children exclusively through their first year.
But now that's over, so I guess I need a new one. I am calm in a crisis, always. And I'm a great cook!

I have been a fan of these necklaces for a long time now... and would love to win! My superpower is my ability to multitask -- something that I think comes with motherhood and goes away with fatherhood ;)

I've never really considered myself to be a superhero or have any specials skills. (I really don't like to do these things cuz I always feel like I might be tooting my own horn.) But several years ago my son was assigned a paper to write about someone he considered an everyday hero and he chose me, his mommy. That alone was a big enough compliment for me but he went on to share that he considered me a hero because I always encourage him and his siter. That no matter what they want to be or do I tell them it is possible and beleive in them. (Even when he said I want to be a rock star) I want them to know who they are and do what they love. Again, I think I'm just being me, but if they want to call me their superhero, I'll let them!

I have super read aloud children's books abilities! It was one of my favorite things to do as an elementary teacher and I love reading to my son.
    Thanks!

I think my superpower is being 7+ months pregnant and taking care of my 3 other kids. Oh, alright and my husband too. Does he count as another kid? LOL!

My super hero power would be that I'm some how not falling apart with my husband working 488 miles away. He's gone 3 weeks each month which leaves me in charge of not only 5 kids but the entire house and all the problems that comes with it.

My superpower is communicating with my girls age 17 and 12. I get to stay home with them and I am always home when they come and go. Some say they could take care of them selves, but not so. If you want to really know your kids the best time to talk is when they get home from anywhere. This is the most important thing I can be doing at this time. Love it.

My first year teaching Civics to 8th grade students, and I have come to see that I just have a special way of dealing with them. Everyone warned me about their age group and how crazy they can be. They told me it was one of the hardest age groups to teach, but I love it! I really love it, and I would not want to teach any other grade!

    Fun giveaway!
My superpower? To be objective. Have to say, it did inherit it from my dad.
And of course being overseer of 3 boys and 1 man-child, I have the power to find everything lost in this house.

My superhero power at this time is time management. I seem to be able to break my time between a full time job, full time college, a 2 1/2 year old and a baby due in 2 months, oh yeah and a hubby.

I guess my superpower would have to be that I am a super organizer. I love to do it and it relaxes me. Plus, when I am finished at my house I usually move on to my friend's homes...they love it!

My superpower is super sonic hearing. I can hear my 17 month old wimpering in her sleep upstairs over any war movie my husband forces me to watch. I also have super smell. I can get a whiff of a dirty diaper from across the room:-)

Beautiful jewelry! Wendy said it so well when she said that we as women are so quick to demean ourselves. I have difficulty pinning down my own superpower, but very often people are so kind in what they say, I begin to believe them. So, going by what I've been told, I guess my superpower at this point in my life is "courage". In the past 5 years I've endured many health issues, which meant I had to leave a job that I loved, and that I've had to accept using a wheelchair most of the time. Throughout, though, I've tried to use the experience to teach my children that just because you come to a bend in the road, it doesn't mean that your journey is over. Perhaps it's just begun!

What a great giveaway! That necklace is beautiful.
My superpower is making the best chocolate chip cookies. I use a very basic recipe, but everyone who has them tells me how good they are. I've even had people tell me that they did not turn out nearly as good as mine when they tried to make them.

I would say my super power is cooking. I got it from my super-mom. I love being in the kitchen and creating something yummy. I plan my week of menus, make a grocery list, only go to the store once a week, and I always know what's for dinner. I also try to cook healthy meals for my family. That is so important to me. I love to experiment but also have easy favorites that I do often. And from what I hear, they taste pretty good. This was so fun.

I love the maternity shirt that says something like, "I make people. What's your superpower?" My superpower? I'm crafty! You can decide which meaning. =)

One of my superpowers is definitely my sense of smell. I can smell things from a mile away, which sometimes is not such a good thing :)
I also think I have a good sense of colour and their values. I have been told that I can put colours together well, both in my decor and my scrapbooking.
