Wednesday Giveaway : Superhero

Superhero

Today I want to celebrate a wonderful blogger, jewelry artist, mother, and life coach who has become a friend: Andrea Scher of Superhero Designs. [ photo below by Boho Girl Denise Andrade ]

Andrea is the reason I began blogging back in 2004. I was working on a project for a workshop about designing with color (& color inspiration) and was searching the internet using the search terms "colorful jewelry." I stumbled onto Andrea's Superhero site (and of course I had to order a handmade necklace as part of my research), started reading her blog and checking out all her inspiring links, and decided then and there that what she was doing was cool and I wanted to start my own blog.

I finally got to meet Andrea in person last summer after corresponding back and forth from time to time over the past four years. It was awesome. She has a heart of gold, a wonderful written voice, and a gift for helping people get in touch with their own inner superhero.

Today, lucky readers, Andrea is giving away a one of her fantastic, colorful bead necklaces. In addition, she has a special holiday sale happening now that includes $20 off necklaces bead necklaces. Passion would make a great gift for a special friend (or a suggestion for a spouse who may need a little help in choosing a Valentine gift).

Here's a little FAQ on her lovely necklaces. She has also added these very cool silver pendant necklaces to her offerings.

To be entered into the drawing today leave a comment that highlights your own personal superpower (or superpowers). And before you think you have none, stop and consider the possibility
for a moment. What is something you are just awesome at? Take a
minute to be proud of something about ourselves and share it publicly.
I bet you are your very own superhero in some very special way.

Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winner posted shortly after.

My superpower is ENTHUSIASM! I love getting others as excited as I am about whatever it is that I am passionate about. Right now that includes: recycling, paper crafts and knitting!

What a beautiful necklace. I guess my superpower is making people happy through surprise gift-giving. I love giving people little gifts that I've made for no reason at all. It always seems to make their day. Everyone needs to know they're special and unique and that's how I do it.
Thanks for your website... it is such an inspiration!

I am a super librarian. I so enjoy bringing books and children together to spread the joy of reading. I hope I'm good at it.

First off -- I think it's awesome that so many women responded about being a mother. A lot of people don't realize how incredibly complicated that job is and I have a ton of respect for all mothers, especially my own!
My superpower is being goofy. It comes in handy during all kinds of situations, and can really lighten a heavy mood. It makes me feel like a kid sometimes too, especially when real life can hand you some sour lemons. I love getting a little toy out of the 50 cent vending machine -- it just brightens my day.

My super power is the ability to throw back my head and laugh when the toilet is filled to the brim with tissues (it takes approx 120 to do this), the fairy wand is stuck in the dog's tail and tinkles every time he wags his tail, my son has jettisoned his clothes once again, the baby has colored herself (tongue included) green and purple, and my credit card company calls to ask if the seven bizarre charges on my card are actually mine.
My favorite New Year's sentiment is, "May all of this year's surprises be the kind you laugh about later."

Love these necklaces! I would say my superpower is the ability to strip down a problem to its basics and solve it from there. I don't get overwhelmed but take things one step at a time until it is solved.

I am really good at helping at-risk, low self-esteem kids feel like they are real people who deserve a good life. I tell them that I hold the sparkle in them that they can't see. I share that sparkle with them when they feel like giving up. I am so thankful for such a talent. I believe that I have helped many kids see themselves in a better light and help them to keep going when giving up seems an easier, more tempting way out.

My superpower is that I am fairly unflappable and I don't easily get offended. I've worked hard on this and now it comes naturally. It i much easier to just keep things on your own mat (as they say in yoga) and just not worry about what someone else is doing or saying.

My superpower would have to be my memory....remembering EVERYTHING has been great for my career, but I'm not sure my husband and kids always appreciate the fact that I don't/can't forget anything!

My superpower right now is trying to be patient, compasionate and understanding. My Mom came down with Dementia recently which has not only casued me to re-adjust my thoughts but my understanding and comlete patients. I have also found that scrapbooking is a HUGE blessing because it not only gives me a creative outlet it gives my Mom a way to look at and be connected with my kids....and for my kids to help Grandma to always remeber. So my superpower right now this very moment is just being patient and in the moment. However tomorrow it might change,,,

I am a superhero at sleep away camp! I soothe bedtime fears, homesickness, and excited moments of color war. I am the spirit of camp and within me is a child that i can so easily be in touch with, that I can relate to children myself. I love camp! I am a superhero in the eyes of a child each summer! :)

My superpower is bestowing "Power Hugs" on my two boys. Sometimes when they are less than enthusiastic about getting out of bed or off the couch or out of the house I bestow a "Power Hug" on them and it gives them just enough power to get over the hump.
