Finding our rhythm.

As Simon has been saying over and over, "I am so glad she's here."

We made the transition from hospital to home on Friday afternoon and spent the rest of the weekend just hanging out. Thank you so much for all the well-wishes and kind words. We are all really just so excited.

Anna2

Lots of getting to know you moments. So far she is quite the little sleeper and quite the nurser - her two favorite activities. She is also really good at snuggling.

Anna1

Simon is super protective of her. He makes sure to let me know that she needs help and gets very concerned when she appears to be in distress. Chris and I have had lots of "shared-look" moments as we watch Simon talk to her, tell her about whatever is on his mind at the moment, and show her his toys.

Anna3

Keeping it very low key this week. Working on healing myself as I learn all about this sweet girl. Feeling really good overall (the meds definitely help this along) and taking things as easy as I can.

I did not even DARE to wish for a post today! You're amazing! Little Anna looks so cute and a little like Simon, at least to my eyes ... No better thing than having a big brother!

She looks so adorable! A little angel! So sweet to hear how Simon's taking care of his little sister! I have a three-and-a-half year old daughter and a ten month old son and these pics and your story really bring back those warm 'first moments' feelings. Thanks for sharing! You're always a big inspiration to me!

Congrats. She is so precious. Just curious where do you shop for her clothes and all because that hooded number with the butterflies is adorable. Good luck with everything!

Ali: Thanks so much for sharing the great pics of Anna. It sounds like you are, but be very sure you take advantage of any rest time you might get in these early days. You'll probably be tempted to try to do more after a few days, but force yourself not to. The healing takes more out of you than you think and you'll all be happier if you're rested and refreshed. Best wishes to all of you!

Thankyou for sharing your beautiful daughter with us Ali.
I'm sure Simon will make the best big brother, and will certainly be very helpful.
My eldest was almost 5 when my youngest was born. Just the simple act of sitting talking to the baby ( which he did a lot of ) while I was getting things, or indeed he would fetch the nappy etc for me. ( My daughter Lily on the other hand was 2 3/4 and very jealous of the new baby)
I could not believe it at just over 4 weeks when Jack started smiling it was "big brother William" who got all the first smiles and not poor Mummy who'd been getting up to feed at all hours!!! It was lovely to see, and of course found its way onto a scrapbook page.
Enjoy these precious days with your new daughter...each time round they seem to pass by so much more quickly.
Take good care of yourself too.

Simon seems like he is already a perfect big brother! That first picture of the two of them in Orange is just adorable! All the pictures are just so sweet. I hope you are feeling all better soon and just enjoying your expanded family. :)

Part of the miracle of the second born is watching your first born transition from only child to doting sibling. Seeing that sweet picture of Simon and Anna brings me back to watching my eldest son cradle his new sister for the first time, and that almost indescribable wave of pride and happiness.
    Congratulations again!

And that cute cuddly little pink bundle...man, I know I've said I'd be good with a boy or girl but that picture makes me dream of a girl flavored baby come june :)
