Documenting The Kids
[ sentiment strip available at Designer Digitals ]
Simon @ 7 years
- worked super hard for over three weeks to have three days "in green" for a reward trip to Target to get some legos (staying in green means following directions, no pushing, no arguing about who is first in line, accepting, etc)
- playing with the neighbor kids outside almost everyday after school: riding bikes, playing chase
- doing single number addition worksheets super-fast (and correctly)
- ate green peppers & broccoli
- working on accepting not being first in line after recess everyday + found a solution by holding hands (and sharing first) with the little girl you compete with the most
- lost your first tooth (you pulled it out all on your own)
Anna @ 3 months
- smiling a ton, especially when Simon comes into view
- liking very much to be held rather than in any other spot
- rolled over from stomach to back
- working on getting into a routine
- moved from the bassinet next to our bed to the crib in your own room
- had your first adventure to the 92 degree swimming pool (you loved it)
- started hanging out with a very special babysitter twice a week
Cute picture!!

Anna looks like she's concentrating hard at memorizing what Simon is doing so she can build it next! cute!

Wow Mommy! You've had a big week! I don't think we moved either of our kids to their own room until they were 4-5 months old...bad me. I couldn't let go. I STILL haven't left my 1 year-old with anyone that I am not related to. REALLY need to let go. Good for you. Hope that Anna is loving her time with someone new. Gorgeous photo!

What a great photo! The expression on her face is hysterical. What beautiful children. I'm not at all surprised that she already seems to be 100% interested in what Simon is doing at all times. What a blessing for you all.

The sun shine and set on my daughter in my son's eyes when he was a baby too! I love that.

Ali, I have a little boy with autism in my grade two class this year and he struggles with being first in line as well. We found a solution that is working wonders for us. We have a little pocket by the door and in it are playing cards from ace to 5 (5 seemed far enough back) He picks one out each morning and that is his spot for the day. So if he gets 2, he is second in line all day and we hang that number by the door. Although lately, he wrinkled the Ace so he can find it easily! :) Have to get a new one. :)

My oldest daughter loved to be held from week one to six months. I am really grateful that my cousin had given me a Baby Bjorn carrier. It enabled me to meet her need to be held and it allowed me to get my to do list completed.
Great photo!

i love this! such a great way to document their lives - will you be turning this into a scrapbook page?
i think this would be a great thing to steal to document any day, by the way. i don't have kids yet, but i could easily adapt this to my newlywed life - moments that i want to remember, simple picture with words on top, and a few notes. toss it all into a page, and done!

What a great way to help them and you remember these special times. I make notes on the cute, smart and funny things the Peanut says on our calendar. and Take a bazillion photographs every week. We live far from relatives so being able to share images make us feel less alone. I love that Anna lights up upon seeing her brother.

Wow, the time is flying! Anna was just born and she's already rolling over? Man, that went fast. One of the greatest reasons for documenting as we do is how time flys. Kudos to Simon for doing so good! Good Job boy!
