Documenting The Kids

Simon @ 7 years

- worked super hard for over three weeks to have three days "in green" for a reward trip to Target to get some legos (staying in green means following directions, no pushing, no arguing about who is first in line, accepting, etc)

- playing with the neighbor kids outside almost everyday after school: riding bikes, playing chase

- doing single number addition worksheets super-fast (and correctly)

- ate green peppers & broccoli

- working on accepting not being first in line after recess everyday + found a solution by holding hands (and sharing first) with the little girl you compete with the most
- lost your first tooth (you pulled it out all on your own)

Anna @ 3 months

- smiling a ton, especially when Simon comes into view

- liking very much to be held rather than in any other spot
- rolled over from stomach to back
- working on getting into a routine
- moved from the bassinet next to our bed to the crib in your own room
- had your first adventure to the 92 degree swimming pool (you loved it)
- started hanging out with a very special babysitter twice a week

Staying green is a great thing!! Congratulations Simon!! I am a teacher and a mother who celebrates every green day at school and at home! It is the small triumphs that will some day add up to positive life skills! And I always try to keep in mind that I have yellow and red days too!

i love this...the documenting and the photo...my youngest boys are about the same difference in age as Simon and Anna...and Donovan (now 2) always smiled and searched when Daylon (soon to be 10) came in after school...enjoy it!! it goes by far, far, far too fast!!

Ali- I just love Anna's studious face in the pic of Simon and his legos! :) This is a wonderful pic and shows how much potential there is for younger siblings to learn from their older ones! :) My son (almost 10) and daughter (almost 2) have times when they are driving each other up the wall, but times where they are very sweet to each other. Always, my daughter, is studying him everyday. :) Thanks so much for sharing. :)

Ali - I love the photo! Did you set the camera on the table and set the timer or did you have Chris take it? I am always curious how people go about getting great photos in which they are included in. Thanks!

The picture is priceless, Ali! This is one of the best things about having a second child a few years later...the youngest is so darn enamored with every move the oldest makes and the oldest is pretty darn good to the youngest! What a joy to be a Mom!
