December Daily : Request for Q&A 2009

I wanted to open up the comments today to specific questions about the December Daily album/process/ideas/etc. I know some of you have left questions in previous post comments and if I missed your question would you please ask it again here?

Before posting your question you may want to check out the Q&A post from 2008

I will create a post that compiles the Q&A and post it next week.

Have a great weekend - new sponsor giveaways tomorrow morning!

Bazzill also makes acrylic that you can cut with your paper trimmer. I have used it for several projects and I am using it for this one! You get it in 12x12 sheets and I got mine at my LSS. Looks like you can get something similar from Scrapbook.com. Good luck!

Monica, I made my own covers, by taking a cropper hopper divider (http://www.cropperhopper.com/images/products/detail/CN3D.jpg)
and then cut it down to the size I wanted. I punched holes with my Crop-a-dile.

Ali or anyone that can help =),
I have a question about using chipboard pieces for a front cover and back cover. Have you worked with chipboard covers for mini albums much, and if so, where do you buy the chipboard? Do you buy it pre-cut to the size you'll use, or in sheets and cut it down? Can you cut thick chipboard with any kind of trimmer, or do I need to buy a special kind?
    Thanks!!

I have a rings question also - the year you used the white acrylic folder looking covers, perhaps last year - what size rings did you use? Perhaps more importantly, I have swapped to 2" rings, but they aren't sturdy enough and don't stay closed. Is there a supplier that you can recommend (mine came from Office Depot).
Thanks!! I'm really enjoying the DD journal creation and imagine that doing the pages in December is going to be a wonderful new tradition.

I am taking the prompts from JS's class, and using it as a platform for my DD. I made my own album, and am not using the pdf's from JS's class in the album, but the quotes are great, as are the journalling ideas. AND, I can choose which promps fits our family...

    Hi Ali,
I did the DD last year with a 2-up photo album, but this year I decided to use an 8x8 album from Making Memories to have a little more flexibility. With the 2-up album I had to print all of my 4x6 photos in landscape to fit the album, although I was able to also use it as a photo album to store all of my excess holiday photos.
My question is about the numbers on each page. Why do you do that, when you also seem to use a journaling card with the date on it as well? I guess the numbers make it more of a diary/journal. Last year I pasted numbers to 4x6 decorative papers that I put in the album to separate days, but I often put the date on my journaling card, so I'm not sure the numbers served any purpose. Just wanted your take on it.

Ali, thanks for sharing your album with us again this year! I love yours and want to do my own this year! I just have one question about the pages though. Do you use the front and back of each page for each day? So essentially, each days gets a front and back of one page???
That is what it looks like in your pictures but I can't tell for sure???
    Thanks!

I used chipboard last year and it worked great. I actually bought thick book board at an art store and cut two covers with an exacto knife. It's not hard with a ruler. You just have to make several passes with the knife. I covered the bookboard with pretty paper just to the edge and then "painted" the edge with an Adirondack Dabber (but any acrylic paint would do).
Also - When you buy the book board at the art store, you get lots that can be used for many projects and it's not very expensive.

    Ali,
I have purchased the same album you are using for your December Daily and I've picked out fabric and I'm to the point where I need to take my grommets out. I have purchased other ones but my question is HOW you are using the crop a dile to set these. I've purchased grommets that are the same size as the ones on the outside of the album. I've noticed that you have put grommets on each page which I think is brilliant yet I need a little more instruction before I jump into that process. I don't want to ruin the album before I ever get started! Thanks for any direction you may have! I'm excited to get this part finished up before the holidays are upon us! Thanks so much for the Holiday fun!
