My favourite tradition is driving around to see all the houses that are decorated for the Holidays. And also seeing all the family - many of us are scattered all over the country, so it's fun to get together for Christmas.

When I was a little girl in the early sixties my mom and dad started giving my brothers and I a christmas ornament as one of our presents. These are my most treasured ornaments. I now have four kids and every year they get ornaments. My two oldest have moved out and left with a very good start for a tree of their own. I hope this small tradition has had the same effect on them and they carry it on when start to have their own children.

My favorite family tradition is going to see Santa - we go the week following Thanksgiving, which puts us all in the mood to go get our Christmas tree and begin the decorating. It just snowballs from there!

My favorite tradition is attending the "Yuletide Celebration" performance downtown. We are joined by Grandpa and my son's Aunt; see the Christmas lights downtown, enjoy dinner at a restaurant and then enjoy the music and entertainment. So festive!

I love to go look at the lights in the neighborhoods on the lake. There is this one house with a life-size nativity scene that we always stop at and sing "Happy Birthday" to Jesus at.

I love traditions! It has been so fun combining my husband's and mine and creating our own. Two that my three kids just asked me to write were our gingerbread house decorating and our nightly Christmas book pulled from a large basket that holds our collection.

Having holiday traditions is something that gets lost when your parents divorce and grandparents die. For quite a few years I've felt a bit lost at Christmas in terms of tradition and have been trying to build new traditions with my own children.
Last Saturday night my husband and I, along with our two daughters and a couple we are good friends with, went to a small town an hour away from Toronto and saw their Santa Claus parade. It's an evening parade and the entire town is lit up. It was simply gorgeous. We drank hot apple cider and hot chocolate and then after went out for dinner.
THAT is our new tradition. And since it's the last week in November it's the perfect way to kick off the season.

My favorite tradition is a full Christmas dinner with the family on Christmas Day. Everyone has crackers on their plate that we break open before eating, and we all wear our paper hats from the crackers while we eat. Thanks for the giveaway!
