Hoping to start some new traditions this year, but I think my favourite still has to be leaving out beer and cookies for Santa (I'm Australian and when I was growing up we figured Santa would need a nice cold beer by the time he got to our house).

We have almost too many to pick from! I think my most favorite is Christmas Brunch, when all of the craziness is over and I can just relax and enjoy the family.

My favorite holiday tradition is a funny one. Every year my Mom says we aren't opening presents until Christmas day...and she's SERIOUS. After a glass of wine or two on Christmas Eve-- she suggests we start opening presents. I'll be 40 next month. So this is a 40-year long tradiiton!

My favorite tradition from when I was a child was the night of our school Christmas program (usually weeks before Christmas), when we got home, we were each allowed to open ONE present from under the tree! I remember how CAREFULLY we chose which one to open, hoping we picked our MOST WISHED-FOR gift! Come to think of it, I now think my mother didn't even put our "big surprise" under the tree until closer to Christmas for that very reason!

I love all of these things, so cute! One tradition is the Bizarre Bazaar. It's this huge craft show here in Richmond, Va. Me and my mom always go and we always find the most beautiful things.

Our December traditions involve a lot of living in the moment and remembering to take it slow and enjoy all of the pleasures of the season. We have an advent "tree" with a slip of paper for each day to help us remember to do all of the things we love. Christmas music, caroling, favorite Christmas movies, crafting and baking, etc....

Christmas in my family is all about traditions. My favorite is my dad reading Twas The Nigh Before Christmas and Polar Express on Christmas Eve. When we were young, it signaled bed time, now as adult, it is the same for my niece and nephews. The way dad reads the stories with such joy always make me choke up now.

We gather with a group of friends for a "gala" with drinks, food and lots of fun. Admission to it is a box of non perishable food for a local food bank.

The day my mom and her friend make their Christmas cookies. They've been doing it for over 30 years and I loved it as a kid when I would come home from school and they would be finishing up and have a plate of "testers" for me. And as an adult, I still love going over there and testing the broken ones for them. ;)

My two daughters and I love making spritz cookies and pretzel hugs for family and friends & sprinkling them with love, while listening to & singing along to our favorite Christmas carols. Baking spritz has been a fond family tradition in my husband's family for generations & one my daughters delight in continuing every holiday season!

Our favorite tradition is the decorating of the Xmas tree and then just watching the twinkling lights. DS has loved this since he was tiny and that brings joy to all the rest of us.
