365 : This Week In Photos & Words

AnnaLOW JANUARY 26 : Hello sweet, happy girl. You are a lover of life. Easy-going. You are just a few days shy of your first birthday. Almost-walking without any assistance (you actually ended up walking on your own on the 27th). Silly. Those blue eyes.

I am excited to watch life unfold for you.

JANUARY 28 : Thursday lunch. Turkey, avocado, and some cheese. Pineapples. Most days I try not to eat lunch at my computer. I go to the table. I spread out the paper...and read the news that I have already heard on NPR in the early AM.

JANUARY 29 : This morning I took three pairs of sweat pants (his pant of choice on no-school days) out of Simon's drawers because they are way past the point of being way too short.

We have this spot between our kitchen and dining room where we have been measuring him (and now Anna - who is also like a weed) since we moved in a few years back. He loves being measured. He loves seeing how tall he is getting. He often talks about being "as tall as Mom."

I think he thinks there will be a prize. I need to ask him what will happen when he is taller than me...

Sounds like LIFE IS GOOD! at the Edwards house. Can Anna really be almost 1 year old? Wow... how time passes. She's a real cutie pie. :)

Thanks for the reminder to take pics of the everyday. I'm dying to find out what Simon thinks is going to happen when he's taller than you!

Thanks for sharing. I really enjoyed looking at your photos. I am also doing a photo a day and have been taking so many people photos that it was great to see this and remind myself to capture the small details too! Can't believe Anna is almost 1.

I hardly ever post but...Anna is so beautiful. I know you know, but it brought a huge smile to my face to see her. Yay for meeting milestones! And the Book Thief. What a great book. Have a great weekend.

Anna is such a beautiful little girl! My baby girl turned one the day after Christmas and there is something about a girl that brings such joy to my life. My boys are my love as well, but that smile of Sophia's gets me. She is also easy going, but does have her moments. Love the measurement of Simon thing too. I remember doing this on my grandparents door when I was little. :-)

    Ali,
Thank you for letting all of us readers into your life and your world. I read the Book Thief a couple of months ago after reading one of your blog posts on it. It was a little difficult at first for me to get into it given the narrative but once I did I really enjoyed it. I hope you do as well.
    Blessings

I have that spot on the wall also where the height is marked every few months. Mine is now all grown up and I looka t that and wonder where the time went. I keep trying to figure out a way to keep this little piece of history. A picture doesn't quite do it, but I can't see cutting out the wall either.

My baby will be 14 tomorrow. He is one inch shorter than me (I'm 5'11"). I think he thinks that is when he will be considered grown up. I wanted to thank you for directed us to Donald Miller. Loving all his books and sharing them with many.

Love the daily photos -- I need to start doing this. The Book Thief is an EXCELLENT story -- one of those that I am so glad I took the time to read -- I gained a perspective I never had before.

Hi Ali, I've been following your Project Life plans and loving it..remininding me of your Week in Life class (looking at that album gives me such great memories of Provo & class!). Anyway I've tried to order Project Life with no luck and finally find out from Amazon they won't ship to Canada. Tried Beckys site to see if I can order anywhere else but no answers yet. Do you have any ideas where else might have it?? ev in Squamish :)

We grew up being measured on a door jamb - when my parents moved out (after probably more than 30 years there?) they took it with them! (after replacing it of course ;)) When we had kids, my parents gave us a wooden height measurer that has a duck head slider that was used on the tops of their heads to position the actual height marks. Once we had it positioned we'd tell the person being measured to "Duck" out from under so we could pencil in their mark. We had it hanging in our dining room/family room for years & it has the kids' height measurements, ours, friends that wanted to be measured, a whole history of heights! It's tucked away while we remodel our room - I'm hoping to find a spot for once we finish, it's such a great "measure" of our family history!
