Using 6x12 Divided Page Protectors In Scrapbooking

Last week I shared a few Today You 4x6 photos with digital journaling and wanted to show how I am incorporating these into my albums.

Sometimes when I use my computer to journal on my photos in Photoshop I will then use the photo on a layout with embellishments, etc. Other times it's just nice to journal, print, slip-in, and be done.

It's no secret that I am a fan of divided page protectors in my 12x12 albums. These new 6x12 page protectors from American Crafts are great for adding photos or journal cards or embellished 4x6 cards or ephemera directly into 3-ring albums.

I also think this is one of the things I like about digital scrapbook products - they can easily and simply be added to a photo, printed, and placed inside a page protector such as this one above (or in a 12x12 divided page protector). The story gets told.

You can also achieve this same look without using digital products. After printing photos grab some journal blocks (made by lots of different companies such as these from October Afternoon or you can always just use a piece of cardstock from your scrap box), write your story, adhere it to your photo, and slip into the pockets.

This is scrapbooking.

On the backside of these photos I am planning to use the same Toady You theme with three photos + journaling for a day in Simon's life.

Cute photos and I'm sure the journaling is just as good. I like the look of these 6 x 12 page protectors. They look sturdy. I did our vacation album, last summer on 6 x 12 divided pages but they are flimsy and many have ripped. These look much better so I will place an order ASAP. Thanks.

Your post came at the right time. I too like to do a yearly album, but life sort of got in the way and suffice it to say I'm several years behind. I've always done traditional scrapbooking until recently. I purchased Photoshop Elements last summer and hoped this would spur me on to get my photos under control but still find myself behind. I love your idea of the divided pages. I'm placing an order tonight and can't wait to get started. This is just the motivational shove I need.

I have bought 2 AC 3 rings with a variety of page protectors since taking your Y&T class and just LOVE them. I do wish the same variety was available in postbound as I really like the way a double page spread looks in a postbound album... Maybe some day..Love these simple pockets you have done. More terrific ideas from the Ali deep well. TFS

Hi Ali, I hope you are all feeling better. Do you have a tutorial on how to add the additional journaling box under the "Today you"? Thanks.

Ali, I have been lucky enough to have been in your Yesterday/Today class, and I love your work. You seem to read a lot of books, and I was wondering if you've thought about adding a 'recommended read' type of section to your blog. I for one would be very interested in checking out any authors and books you have read and feel would be worthwhile to others. And I look forward to experiencing "a week in the life". Thank you, Jennifer

Those 6x12 divided page dividers will definitely come in handy.
Also, I tried to go to the links about your album organization process but something peculiar happens when I click on each link in that section. It takes me to the page and then 2 seconds later, I'm redirected to a 404 Page Not Found. Just thought I'd let you know :)
