168 Hours : Welcome To A Week In The Life

What do 168 consecutive hours of your life look like?

YOU CAN DO THIS.

Here's one of my favorite quotes to send you on your way:

And while it takes courage to achieve greatness, it takes more courage to find fulfillment in being ordinary. For the joys that last have little relationship to achievement, to standing one step higher on the victory platform. What is the adventure in being ordinary? It is daring to love just for the pleasure of giving it away. It is venturing to give new life and to nurture it to maturity. It is working hard for the pure joy of being tired at the  end of the day. It is caring and sharing and giving and loving…
Marilyn Thomsen

I invite you to simply take a deep breath and enjoy the process. Capture those little things that you pass by everyday or those little bits of life that really do make up your everyday existence.

I also encourage you to approach this project with what I call the past perspective. Think about what you wish you knew about your parents, grandparents, etc and document those things - simple routines, thoughts, feelings, the hours of ordinary life. Let those thoughts be your guide this week as you document your own daily life.

They are grey - they were designed to go with the tabs (they are lighter than the tabs). It also makes it easier to cut them if you are going the hybrid route.

I am always inspired reading your blog in the morning. It's my version of morning coffee, something to get me ready to tackle the rest of the day!

I am so excited to start this project. These are the parts of life I want to remember as my childen grow. They are 10 and 13 now. Wish I had done this when they were little. The differences would be amazing!

I never document the everyday stuff...it always seems too trivial, too boring to actually document. However, I am really embracing this challenge to capture my family and document our memories for each other. Really excited about doing this...hoping the habit of capturing everyday photos sticks with me! As always, thanks for your never ending inspiration Ali!

very excited about this! liking my photos more than my journaling but oh well...decided last night finally that I would do the format just like you do instead of my 12x12 idea. So many more pics will fit in the baseball card holder! I've also asked SO to take a camera with him to work at least one day this week...it is "our" lives after all, not just mine. thanks ali!

Thank you for the quote. My life is fairly simple (at least i think so) and I read blogs and feel as if my life is "ordinary". But then this week I was reminded that I need to just be thankful for the life that God has given to me and live it to His glory. I'm looking forward to this week, it's the first time I've done a week in the life. Thank you for all your inspiration.

I started yesterday - and it is my first time! i felt like i need a day at home to start making fotos and fotos and fotos....and missed my camera when i went to see my mother in law...
it is so unusual to take pictures of alle those ordinary things like coffee cups or breakfast tables - i am used to catch those special moments. But i have a few more days to get used to it :).
i am so exited to see the finished album in the end!

I think that documenting our everyday life is as important as the time we take to document the special events like weddings, birthdays, holidays... Our day to day life gives others such an insight into who we are. Thanks Ali for your inspiration always!

Thank you so much Ali for creating this idea. I had so much fun today taking pictures and journaling. The most fun was taking pictures while on errands. I took a picture of my favorite parking spot at Walmart it was empty yaaaah, also of my daughter's dream house when I drove by just so she'll remember that house, the voting signs in our community to vote for our schools coming up next month. I never think to write that down and now I'm happy to say it's written in our album.
On the giveaway I may have commented twice by accident. Hope you had fun today too.

I love this project! Of all the exciting things that happen in our lives, it's the everyday that matters most. I love days when nothing is on the calendar and the ordinary moments are what make me smile. I'm happy to be joining you in this project and love that every time you make it fresh and new. Thank you.

Thank you Ali for this wonderful opportunity in which I'm grabbing with both hands to complete. I am completing this with a girlfriend this week. We have already started - onto Day 2 - here in Australia. I love the quote you have provided and I too would love to put this inside the cover of the album. XX

Journaling notes, pictures, pages, paper and friends doing the same thing...it doesn't get any better than this. Well, maybe you could add chocolate.

Something special about me is that my first language was Lithuanian (while living in the US). Learning to speak English at age 3 gave me an ear for languages which helped me a lot as I moved all around the world.
