And, the evening snack.

My overwhelming thought about this project today: I love photos.

I definitely recovered from the frustrations of yesterday. Thanks for all the nice comments and I'm so glad that so many of us are familiar with the event known as "waking up in the morning to a kitchen full of dirty dishes from the night before."

Thursdays around here follow a similar progression as Tuesdays - with Simon's swimming lessons in the afternoon. His swimming lessons have become a treasured Mom & Simon time. Rather than the bus bringing him home, I pick him up from school and take him to the athletic club for swimming lessons. Because of the time of the lesson we are able to not be in a hurry - I bring him a snack, we sit in the lobby together, and then we make our way downstairs to the pool. He really loves being in the water (definitely takes after his mama) and is making really great progress. It's a great part of our weekly routine right now.

And for today, one of my most favorite quotes from Mary Jean Iron that I recite to myself often:

Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are. Let me learn from you, love you, bless you before you depart. Let me not pass you by in quest of some rare and perfect tomorrow. Let me hold you while I may, for it may not always be so. One day I shall dig my nails into the earth, or bury my face in the pillow, or stretch myself taut, or raise my hands to the sky and want, more than all the world, your return.

I wish you a wonderfully normal, ordinary day.

    Ali,
I love your home. Clean and simple lines, calming colors with pops of flowery brightness, and loaded with warmth. As if your photos weren't inspiring enough, seeing the stage on which you live your life makes me want to seriously declutter.
    Thank you!

I love doing the Week In The Life; I see our world in a whole different light!!! Simple things are good, routines are good, and life is good! I can really relate to the dishes in the sink from the night before!!! It happens quite often ... life gets so busy! But, it is a good life!!! We all have stories to tell!!! I love the flickr link; I have posted some of my pictures there!!! :-)

I just wanted to thank you for doing the Week In The Life. It has been incredibly inspiring and I know it will be something I treasure (as well as the rest of the family) for many years to come.
It has been great seeing how your "life" has been evolving over the last few days. Thank you for sharing!
    Cheers,
    Lisa

Wonderful talents you have to show what's really important to journal. While I would have NEVER taken a photo of "almost done" flowers, your photo showed them nicely and perhaps added a whole new angle about why you still had them...how long you kept them...where they were from...why you had them...and how hard it is to let them leave. Thank you for glimpses into you and your family's life.

Thank you for this project. I started this week, then we stopped because our "normal" routine was interrupted by one of the kids being sick. So we will do this next week. I have to say that I love your pictures and how you document life, it has helped change my perspective on the "daily grind". I also love the quotes you share with us!
    Thank you!

I love your photos! How are you getting the ones with you in them? Do you set a timer? I too love photos and have taken so many already this week that I'm not sure how I will complete my book now....I had an idea and a plan but now I'm not sure. Could become a combo of a variety of ideas. I got really bad at taking pictures of "stuff" during Project 365 and am now trying to take more of the people. Thanks for the inspiration!!

I can't express the joy you bring me each morning with your family photos. I lost my husband in January and mornings seem to be the most difficult time of the day for me. However, your photos have been a sunny highlight that I look forward to.
I started taking photos Monday for 'my week' album. But that's as far as I got... can't seem to focus on one thing long enough. My DD Gallery is just sitting there. The desire is there just not the... whatever one calls it.
Keep the photos coming... Anna is such a 'little you'!

Love the quote!! My world was turned upside down last year, due to illness, & I was having a difficult time trying to record life "now" as my WITL. The quote reminded me, that I will someday appreciate "this" time!

I love your pictures, too! :) I'm in awe of how you're able to capture the light in your photos. That picture of the evening bath is superb. How in the world do you do that? My bath pictures always come out dim and blurry if I don't use the flash, or way too bright and washed out if I do. What settings do you use on your camera to get such great light?
The quote is wonderful. I'm going to save the ones you've posted this week and may include them in my Week in the Life album. Thank you!

love that quote. totally making that my FB status today! doing my WITL at the end of may...working full time makes it hard to capture daily stuff of my kiddo, so choosing a week we will be home more, even if that is not a "normal" week for us.

I am so inspired by this project! Even though my routine is fairly similar every day, I am loving taking the time to look at my world through the camera lens. I am noticing so much more going on around me. Thank you!

What is ordinary? Not sure since every day brings new...and yet the same routine. Crazy how in the midst of journaling my week, I see a routine mixed in with the chaos of a busy family of 5. Love this quote. Today I embrace ordinary...and chaos! Happy Friday Ali!

ali, let me just say that i am thrilled to do this project. it is my first time and i am loving it! i learned how to use my self-timer (pathetic, i know) and i dug out the tripod that i have had for approx. 6yrs. and never even took it out of the bubble wrap! u have gave me the little push that i needed. and the pictures and encouragement really help! i was delighted to see lil anna's shirt on thursday...both my girls had the same wonder woman shirts yesterday! i let them wear it just so i could save the old navy tag for my "stuff"! thanks so much, u are such an inspiration!
