And, the evening snack.

My overwhelming thought about this project today: I love photos.

I definitely recovered from the frustrations of yesterday. Thanks for all the nice comments and I'm so glad that so many of us are familiar with the event known as "waking up in the morning to a kitchen full of dirty dishes from the night before."

Thursdays around here follow a similar progression as Tuesdays - with Simon's swimming lessons in the afternoon. His swimming lessons have become a treasured Mom & Simon time. Rather than the bus bringing him home, I pick him up from school and take him to the athletic club for swimming lessons. Because of the time of the lesson we are able to not be in a hurry - I bring him a snack, we sit in the lobby together, and then we make our way downstairs to the pool. He really loves being in the water (definitely takes after his mama) and is making really great progress. It's a great part of our weekly routine right now.

And for today, one of my most favorite quotes from Mary Jean Iron that I recite to myself often:

Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are. Let me learn from you, love you, bless you before you depart. Let me not pass you by in quest of some rare and perfect tomorrow. Let me hold you while I may, for it may not always be so. One day I shall dig my nails into the earth, or bury my face in the pillow, or stretch myself taut, or raise my hands to the sky and want, more than all the world, your return.

I wish you a wonderfully normal, ordinary day.

    This is absolutely precious!
P.S. While scrolling through the photos I realized at the moment I came to "the morning/mid-day work" I was sitting exactly as you were. Made me feel connected which is pretty cool.

I've been playing along with this project all week... my kids have HAD it with me and my camera. Getting a little bummed because I have almost no pictures of them today since they are now running and hiding when I come around with the camera. Anyone else dealing with this issue? :)

    Ali, I love you.
So much to love here, but first ... the all-day bed is perfection. I need to get a closet mirror photo like this myself. Glad you've shared that.
    Have a great weekend.

Can I say thank you for a week that shows such human-ness! I've had stacks this weeks and extra dishes and plans gone awry and I have felt a kindred spirit in your pictures! Thank you!

I just realized I used the wrong name to reply to Laura's question about journaling.
This is for you laura not Kimberley. Sorry for the mix up.

I love the idea of this project. I'd like to give it a try in the next month or so I think (I found you a little late to start on Monday). I really like that you have lots of pictures of yourself - I'm always forgetting to get pictures of me. I'm going to have to use my timer more often.

Hi Ali, I love your design style and always know I can count on your blog for an inspiration boost. Recently I ran across this interesting idea and thought of you. First of all, have you heard of Photojojo (http://photojojo.com)? It's a site for photography aficionados that think outside the box. In their newsletter they spotlighted a project called "What's in your bag?" See pictures here:

This is a cool way to capture the nitty gritty of the here and now. My current purse seems to swallow up anything placed inside it, and so I'm thinking this would be a great time to zoom in on all those ordinary things that tag along with me wherever I go.

Ali, I have loved doing this project for the first time. I have found it hard to keep going as the week continued. And I'm usually good at keeping pace but a very busy time for our family (getting ready to put our house on the market). Bottom line -- LIFE :) And exactly what you said about not keeping notes and trying to remember at the end of the day rarely works (not well for me anyway!). Granted, you told me, I should have listened more the last 2 days :) But regardless, I have learned so much about my self, our family, routines and not so routine. And I have truly loved the process even when I wasn't as dedicated to taking photos as I wanted to be. Even then...I stopped with the guilt business because above all else I have realized how incredibly blessed I am living this life of mine!!! Thank you Ali! I can't wait to finish up my week and consider how to put this awesome week in my life album together. Heidi p.s. I still don't know how to use my timer :O should I admit that? ha

Hi Ali, even though I didn't make it this time to participate for this project, I'd like you to know that you really inspire me. You make me realize that beautiful photos don't need formal postes and perfect tidy background. The natural ones are the most beautiful ones!

Just don't know how I missed the Big giveaway information but I have to say that the comments - what makes me exceptional - came today on Saturday at an interesting time. Just attended an event that was being attended by 300,000 women across the county by simulcast. The main event was in Woodstock, GA at an incredibly huge church. The title..."Say Goodbye to Insecurities - You've been a Bad Friend for Way Too Long". LOL!!! Well of the 6 points (S-E-C-U-R-E) the last was: a secure woman is Exceptional in life. What makes me exceptional is my desire to follow Creator God and to become the exception, the "healthy thumb", shed the old for the new!!
