AE Inspirations | 08.31.2010

Here's a look at some things around the web that have been inspiring me lately (some of these have been posted on Twitter and/or Facebook - I often post inspiring links as I find them):

VIDEOS

1. Moments on Devour. "Our lives are just a bunch of moments."

2. Storytelling Series: "Remember Me" by Lesley Graham.

3. The "PEN" Story. The most seriously awesome stop motion video.

WORDS

1. Where I'm From by Autumn. I love this idea of writing your life in a poem (even if you're not a poet).

2. Life Story Journaling Prompts via Dedra Long.

3. ThxThxThx : A Thank You Note A Day

4. The Impossible Project. I recently got myself a fun old polaroid (pictured above) and ordered film from The Impossible Project. Loved when I opened up the film I found "stand on a rainbow" printed on the outside. I can't wait to open the next box to see what message is inside.

TUTORIALS

1. Hidden Journaling Using The Slice via Making Memories blog. Cool idea even if you don't have a Slice.

I am so in love with the collection of links you posted on today's entry. Thank you for sharing. It was the perfect "I don't have much to do the computer" that turned to "Let me sit here and read some more great things on the computer." Congratulations on the new site!

I like to use journaling prompts some of the time, but I wonder why we think our lives are about the "most and the least" of things. I enjoy the "ordinary" so much better. Such as, what is in my refrigerator at any given time, how my laundry looks neatly folded on my dryer or how sparkly my toilet looks after I have cleaned it and the sun bounces off of it. Maybe it's because I am getting older that I sincerely enjoy and understand the everyday work/play that defines the person that I have become. And that makes me content.

This is a really interesting observation Cindy. I'd venture to guess that most people out there live by the "most and least" - extremes tend to be measuring sticks for so many different things. I definitely am with you about the "ordinary" - it's the "everything" that our lives are really built on :).

Hi Ali...Your new site looks great! Yours is the first blog I ever read (after finishing Life Artist years ago!) and I've been here ever since, even starting my own blog and adding lots of others (then trimming down again) to my blog reading. Just a comment...I'm not a fan of the format where you have to click "read more" to read an entire blog post of yours. Not sure how others feel about it. I hate to say it, but I've been clicking away to my next morning read instead of clicking that "read more" button. That's my one negative comment about the new site. I wonder if you'll always be using that format? But I love everything else! Have fun in Greece!

Hi Linn - totally appreciate the feedback. I don't plan to change the format at this time, but I do have a suggestion for you. In your bookmarks you can bookmark the home page and then click on the photo or title for the days post. That will take you directly to the post rather than to the Blog heading page. To navigate between posts click "older post" to go to the previous post. With this new larger site format there's going to be at least one click to get to the content (whether it's from the site home page or the "Blog" or "Project" home pages).

I love that "Where I'm From" poem - and I also love that your film has "Stand on a rainbow" printed on it. Too cool!
