Hooray For The Everyday
Found this great catalog in my mailbox yesterday. It wasn't really "found" because I'd requested it, but I was pretty happy to see that tagline on the cover. It's likely I'll cut it out and use it on a layout very soon.
HOORAY FOR THE EVERYDAY.
Such a good reminder. I like the word "hooray." I don't think it's used near enough.
Hooray for uncontrolled laughter in the bathtub. Hooray for small white coffee cups and crushed ice and watermelon.
Hooray for promises kept, clean lines and bagels with cream cheese.
Hooray for Harry Potter and the Wiggles and Pumpkin Spice Lattes. Hooray for cousins and sisters and grandparents who stop by and bring leftovers and sweet peas from their garden.
Hooray for eight-year-olds who can't wait to go back to school next week.
Hooray even for the things that we don't always want to shout hooray for: broken faucets, snakes in the driveway, bills, piles, deadlines, medication, appointments, dog poop on shoes, obligations, upsets, boxes, etc.
Hooray for Fridays and long weekends. I hope yours is full of lots of hoorays.
The big giveaway and the stamp membership giveaway are both open through tonight at 8pm Pacific.
What does it say about me that I thought of you immediately when I saw that catalog LOL
HA :). I'm fairly predictable.

Hooray for IKEA fans! My husband is in charge of catalog distribution so it's his fault if it doesn't make it to your mailbox ;)
That's cool Michelle! Tell him thanks!

Arggghh... snakes?! Where do you live?! And here I am cheering about not having seen a cockroach since we moved here (I always see plenty back home in Singapore! I *hate* them!!). Darn....
But know what? Hooray for bunnies hopping about everywhere... back home, the only bunnies we see are in pet shops, so the kids are so intrigued to see them just hopping around everywhere outside our apt! My kids are definitely loving being in the US!
I'm in Oregon. This new home is awesome in so many ways but in the time we've been here I've already seen 4 snakes (yes, they are small little ones but they are still snakes). It's been years and years since I've seen one outside a zoo. I can deal with just about anything else: spiders, etc...but snakes seem to push me over the edge. It might be the price I pay for the yard I totally love.

Hooray for your new website, Ali! Now that I have had some time to look around, it truly is a work of art. I do have one piece of feedback...I miss having live links for the people who comment on your blog. I used to 'look up' people while reading through your comments and have found some very fabulous inspiration that way. Is there any way that you can bring that feature back?
Hi - you can still do that :). If the person leaving a comment includes a link you can click on their name and it will take you to their site.
Yep! It works! I must have just been trying ones that had no link. Sorry.

I can't imagine under what circumstances you would ever say hooray for a snake in the driveway!
Here's my story about that...yesterday I found one under the front tire of my car when I went to run an errand. It slithered farther under the car as I got in and gagged (yes, how gross is that...they make me gag). I turned on the engine and hoped it would slither away because I didn't want to run over it - running over it would mean I would have to clean it up. After waiting a couple minutes I backed up and looked into the driveway and it was still there so I thought for sure I must have squished it with the tire.
Yuck. The whole time I was out running my errand I was thinking about how I was going to have to clean it up. I would normally ask Chris to take on a task like that but he's unavailable.
Here comes the hooray. As I was driving back home I decided I needed to embrace the part of myself that could take care of this dead snake in the driveway business. The strong, independent part of myself that could also take on the task of changing the faucet that broke yesterday afternoon.
Of course, when I got home, there was no snake in the driveway...it had made it safely away to taunt me another time.
So really, the hooray was for me deciding that I could handle it :). LOL. How's that for a response?
Ali,
That's a great story. Reminds me of the time my boyfriend was out of town. I went to his place to feed his birds, which were sweet little finches, and one had died. :( He had recently moved the cage and it was in the sun. Well, I had to suck it up and remove the bird and bury it, all the while trying not too get too overwhelmed. So here's to you being ready to do the same!
My husband took a job last year that has required much travel. In 2010 he has only been at home 2 weeks. I have had to tap into that strong I can do this part of me too... I CAN move the giant generator and plug it in when the power's out. I CAN fix plugged drains and loose screws and trouble shoot broken appliances. I even had to have some talks with my preteen son that I really wish dad had been able to handle.... I miss hubs terribly but boy have I grown!

I'm ok with snakes, but it's spiders I don't like - and it's spiders we see way more than snakes... ugh.

Hooray for my husband out salmon fishing with his uncle in Newport - he sent me a text that he's already caught one!! Woo Hoo!
Hooray for a quiet day alone at home while he's off fishing!

Hooray for homemade potato salad, already waiting in the fridge for lunch.
Hooray for another weekend with my college age daughter when she returns home to pack the last of her summer things.
Hooray for watching the first OSU football game Saturday with friends!
Happy weekend Ali! Hope you have a lot of fun!

Ha! Snakes. They freak me out. I've never lived anywhere that's had them, until we moved here and w have 6-8 ft bull snakes all over the reservoir where I run and ride. The more I see them the more I get used to them.
We say Hoorah in England :) We have tentative dates of 5th or 11th October for Eric coming home. Nothing is definite 'til he's on the ground, but I'll take it. Hoorah for that :D
Have a good one Ali!
Oh that's seriously something to look forward to + shout hooray!

Hooray for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter! I'll be there in November! Hey, Ali, that is a themed set I would love to see in your Studio AE club (I just signed up today!). I know that Harry Potter is copyrighted, but you could do generic images/text that goes with the story and books in general.
We totally want to go there too Amy. Maybe next year :). Simon would go crazy!

I have a question about your project life album Ali, I'm catching up from the summer and also haven't done the week where I joined in your "week in the life" back in April. My question is did you do yours different maybe added more page protectors or a layout or anything like that?? I'm not sure how to do mine and want to finish it so I can check it off my list. Any ideas or a peek at yours would be great, thanks and have a wonderful fun happy first holiday weekend in your new house
Hi Dawn - just want to clarify...are you asking about Project Life or Week In The Life? You can see my posts about what I've done with Project Life here: http://aliedwards.com/projects/365-project-life (last update was in March) and all posts about Week In The Life are here: http://aliedwards.com/2010/01/week-in-the-life.html
I just pulled Project Life out of a moving box and am looking forward to getting back in the habit again. In general I just leave it out in my office and add stuff as I go about my days (and photos when I get them printed). I'll probably do an update post in October.
thanks for getting back to me Ali.... what I mean is what did you put in your Project Life album during the week you did your Week In The Life album. Because I took so many pictures and so much journaling I've left that week blank still and not sure how to do it. I've thought about putting an extra page protector in for that week and adding a layout of that week also. But was wanting to see what you did for that week before I decide, hope this helps thank so much.
Gotcha! I haven't done that week yet in Project Life either :). I'll let you know when I tackle that...I missing some big chunks in April and May. I've got bits and pieces throughout June, July, and August.
And I think the idea of adding in an extra page protector is a great idea. I've done that for a few things that were larger.
glad to hear I'm not the only one not totaly caught up on their album. Now that the kids are back to school I am catching up on it and enjoying it I actually missed working on it. Please let me know when you do that week if you can. Have a great weekend. Good luck with Simon going back to school. Sam says third grade is the best grade ever and is very happy with his teacher so hooray for that.

Hooray for your new blog! And lunch breaks on Fridays! Oh, yes, so many hoorays today. Awesome post, Ali. Perhaps one of my all-time favorites! I might just have to make some time this weekend to scrapbook a little "hooray" page :)

IKEA always do that for me, both with their tag lines and by their designs. So much to love :)
Your blog is another place to be inspired, I love the new look too. Way to go!
In Norway we say Hurra! ;) And we use it frequently on our national day in May.
