PEEK AT THE PROCESS
| I knew three things for sure when I started the creative process for the layout featured above:

1. I wanted to use the photo of Simon reading in the tree and I wanted it to be bigger than 4x6.
2. I wanted to use the July 2010 stamp set.
3. I wanted to use elements from the Studio Calico September 2010 kit.

I started by cutting out the strip of numbers from the Jenni Bowlin pattern paper. At this point in the process I wasn't too sure what the end layout design was going to look like but I had a general idea to use that number strip as an anchor along the bottom of the main content.

After stamping the Capture Life rectangle above on the cream cardstock I decided to repeat that basic shape using pattern papers (sometimes I just stamp and go for it). I love the technique of repetition.

To give the design a bit of variety I mixed up the height of the rectangles.

Each of the pattern paper rectangles was adhered to the cream cardstock. I added a bit of stitching around two of them. These rectangles would make great homes for additional embellishments if you were creating a page similar to this and wanted to add more.

As you might notice I ended up cutting out this whole area with the cream cardstock background and adhering it to white cardstock.

My initial plan was to have the chipboard title just along the top. I ended up adding "& Read A Book" towards the end of the process. Because that all happened at the end I trimmed some white cardstock off the top to make the margins between the edge of the chipboard letters and the cardstock even.

To complete the page I adhered it to the dark navy lined pattern paper and added zig zag stitching and a little bit of journaling.

I would love to see a travel or school theme. A school on would be great maybe with all the different grades in it, but that would be a lot of stamps. Thanks for the chance to win!

I am a fan of large numbers and dates to capture time on scrapbook pages. I also like before & after concepts - showing last year vs. this year - and how much things in life have changed.

What a great giveaway! There seems to be a shortage of stamps that say 'With Sympathy' or 'Praying for you' so would love a sentiment based stamp set around that theme.

I love all your stamps and ideas. I would love to see "One Little Word" stamps as this years word has had such an impact on my life. It would be fun to be able to stamp the "word" on everything!

What a great giveaway! Thanks for a chance to win. I don't have a specific idea for something I'd like to see. Somehow you always come up with the things I never knew I needed.

Love your stamps - I have a few sets and they rock :)
I would love to see some date stamps - day/week/month/year, etc, as well as some travel themed stamps. As an Australian I wish there was a Mum set as well as a Mom set, but nevermind, I don't see that happening as our market is too small.

Congratulations Ali! This is just wonderful. I'm going to email my LSS right now to see if they will consider it. I know they have some other Technique Tuesday stuff. In terms of other things to develop I had a couple of thoughts. One was one or more alpha sets that would be super versatile. I particularly love sets that have more than one of the letters so you can build entire words on the clear block. The other might be too specialized for the club but I would love to have some words that could be used around memorial/rememberance books and layouts of loved ones that have passed away.

I love this layout -- I used to read in a tree as a kid, too. I'm not completely familiar with the scope of your work, so perhaps this is something you've already made: medium to large sized sentiments for card fronts that are appropriate for birthdays, anniversaries, sympathy, thinking of you.

Just beautiful! I would love to see an "about me" theme... I am not always sure where to start when working on pages about me for my children to see as they get older.

Wow, so many great ideas! I would like to see different sentiment stamps for card makers ( birthday, thank you, sympathy, thinking of you) all in one set. Also love the idea of date-type stamps or shapes with numbers to be used for monthly books like our December Daily!
I think I will need to sign up for this monthly club!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE all your stamp sets and your handwriting. I use it on almost every page and card I do!! Any stamp set you come out with will be a big hit, I'm sure!! But I personally would like to see a set geared directly for little boys or little girls or possible a set about pets!!! Thank you for sharing all your beautiful layouts. They are truly inspirational to me and put me in the mood to scrapbook everytime I look at them!
