PEEK AT THE PROCESS
| I knew three things for sure when I started the creative process for the layout featured above:

1. I wanted to use the photo of Simon reading in the tree and I wanted it to be bigger than 4x6.
2. I wanted to use the July 2010 stamp set.
3. I wanted to use elements from the Studio Calico September 2010 kit.

I started by cutting out the strip of numbers from the Jenni Bowlin pattern paper. At this point in the process I wasn't too sure what the end layout design was going to look like but I had a general idea to use that number strip as an anchor along the bottom of the main content.

After stamping the Capture Life rectangle above on the cream cardstock I decided to repeat that basic shape using pattern papers (sometimes I just stamp and go for it). I love the technique of repetition.

To give the design a bit of variety I mixed up the height of the rectangles.

Each of the pattern paper rectangles was adhered to the cream cardstock. I added a bit of stitching around two of them. These rectangles would make great homes for additional embellishments if you were creating a page similar to this and wanted to add more.

As you might notice I ended up cutting out this whole area with the cream cardstock background and adhering it to white cardstock.

My initial plan was to have the chipboard title just along the top. I ended up adding "& Read A Book" towards the end of the process. Because that all happened at the end I trimmed some white cardstock off the top to make the margins between the edge of the chipboard letters and the cardstock even.

To complete the page I adhered it to the dark navy lined pattern paper and added zig zag stitching and a little bit of journaling.

Ali, when I think of you I think of gorgeous, modern fonts. What about some alphabets in some awesome fonts. One of my daughters has a spelling of her name that isn't the popular way to spell it. So I either use stickers, stamps or print her name on the computer. It would be cool to see some of your faves as a stamp set.

Ditto to all the above great requests. I am just remember words from a song (can't remember the name of the song, though)...."sunrise, sunset, can't remember getting older, when did they." All of the vintage paper that is popular today is inspiring me to get my parents and grandparents story down before I forget (I am the only one left in my family). In doing so, I am passing on a little of my story. Anything you do would be a great help.

I would like to see a cooking/recipe theme. I am interested in making a cookbook of family recipes to pass on to each of my children as they begin to set off on their own life journeys.

I would LOVE to see some unique military stamps. We are a Navy family and I have yet to find some truly unique Navy or military stamps. Something with phrases/sayings/meanings. Everything I've seen out their is pretty generic. I absolutely love your style so I know you could create some awesome stamps!!

Great layout! I'd love to see a school days theme, that would work with a School themed album covering kindergarten through grade 12.
