I loved the books. I like the feel of a book, the heft, the paper, the words, the topics...I think the only book I didn't like was my geometry book!

As a student, I lovee the crisp pages in a new notebook and the smell of new school supplies. As a teacher, I loved setting up my classroom, creating creative spaces for the children to learn in. As a mother of a student, I love watching the excitment in my children's eyes each morning as they head off for a new adventure at school.

I loved school. I loved learning, not just the content but the whole process. Learning to read was probably the most important thing ever; I can't imagine my life without books and stories. I also loved the social connections - I made some of the most important (and enduring) friendships in school. Guess that's why I now work in a school. :)

One of my best memories of school is opening the brown bag lunch my mom packed me every morning and reading the little surprise notes that she would hide in there. I also loved language arts! If I were a teacher, I would teach language arts.
