The Span Of Time Via Photobooth

One of the simple ways I document life is via Photobooth on my computer.

It's a random, irregular tradition. There's some people out there that are much more disciplined with daily shots - check out DailyBooth or Daily Mugshot.

The kids love it. I get myself in the story.

Sometimes you have to take matters into your own hands (or click a button on your computer) to make sure you're visually included in the stories you're telling.

Wouldn't it be cool to have a set of shots like this of your Mom or Dad or Grandparent or other loved one from a certain point or over a span of time?

This is very cool. What is the timespan for yours? The background is a point of interest too- can see where you moved!

Hi Marsaille - I'd say the time span is only about 6 months in this series.

My son and I went on a hay ride this past week and a friend took some pictures of us.... it's the first picture we've been in together since he was 5 weeks old (he'll be 1 on Halloween)!

I totally need to get on the other side of the lens more often!

What kind of lens is on your camera in the above photo?

I love that your studio is in the background of these photos. I just smile looking at this (even though I don't know you!). Visit here daily but today--bonus! Listening to you w/ Lain @ LOAD this morning. So good. Thanks. And too bad I didn't see it earlier, I have a good corn chowder recipe. Have a great week! Heidi

My kids love photoboth on my computer. I enjoyed ready your article in scrapbook, etc magazine - I couldn't resist purchasing it at the grocery store. I have so missed your monthly feature in a magazine. Do you think you will continue a monthly feature with this magazine?

This is so cool. Love all the different photos. Have to admit that I didn't know you could do this on a computer, will have to read up on it and see if I can do it on mine. Love the room with the sunlight coming in the window.

It's extremely rare to find a photo of me and my little ones. It's kind of empowering to think that I can easily get the three of us in a photo on my own. Looking forward to giving it a whirl - thanks!!

Dumbest question ever since I am sure I could find it if I spent a tad more time on it, but do you know if this is available for Windows comptuers too? That would be a great way to actually get ME in some photos :)

      Christine,
If you have a webcam {or a very small dark spot on the top edge of your monitor ; ) }, you can take photos. If you have Windows Vista, enter webcam in the search box at the bottom of the window that pops up when you click the MS four square button located in the lower left corner of your screen.

The results should include clickable links to webcam info on your PC.
I know my info is vague - each PC/monitor/webcam is different. I hope this helps!

Ha, thanks for the reminder, Ali. My 7-year old is going to teach his grandmother how to use the computer. Before he said yes to this he asked me whether she knew all the letters on the keyboard ;-) Now I know I really have to take pictures.

    Really cool idea...

AH, photo booth, a tool that quiets sobs from toddlers, documents Popeye arms for teenagers, and instills countless giggles! It makes everyone feel like a supermodel with its rapid picture mode :)

Love this idea, might have to start it for myself. Just wondering if you are going to do an update on your Project Life book or Anna's baby book. I'm doing a very non-traditional baby book for my son and I was wondering if you had any ideas that I could "borrow" for my book. Love the blog, visit daily. Thanks.

Hi Andi - I have plans to do both (an update on Project Life + her baby book). I don't have a specific date but they are two projects I have in progress and will share at some point.
