December Daily™ 2010 | Day Twenty-Four & Day Twenty-Five

Welcome to Day Twenty-Four and Day Twenty-Five!

I am really one of those people that is DONE with Christmas on Christmas Day. Even putting these last two pages together was a challenge for me as I'm just ready to move on to the next thing. I think, actually I know, that's a big reason why I put a lot of effort into keeping up throughout the month - I know that I am so over-it by December 26.

It's time to clean off my desk, put away the Christmas stuff, and get ready for One Little Word, Yesterday & Today, and I really want to work on 2010 Project Life before starting 2011.

Still left to do is the intro page, a closing page, and figure out if there's a different option other than the rings. I'll be back in a few days with those.

SALE NOTE : Designer Digitals currently has all Christmas products on sale for 30% off through January 1. This is a great time to stock up for next year or for working on/finishing up 2010. Click here to check out all my Christmas products.

DAY 24

Definitely a favorite capture from the weekend.

A simple second page with two photos and a strip of Christmas Twill.

DAY 25

Merry, merry Christmas morning. It already feels like a huge blur.

I love this shot because it's got a bit of everything: tree, kids, jammies, presents, lights, etc.

The ISO on my photos, especially for Christmas morning, was way, way to high. Trying to work with them in photoshop/aperture and not getting very far. Embracing, embracing, embracing...and just getting over it.

For page two I decided to just go with a photo of the family and journaling.

JOURNALING : We had a really nice, really simple Christmas here. It was filled with the voices of two kids: one age eight and one almost-two. They were both excited. Simon was full of anticipation and could not wait to go to bed on Christmas Eve. Chris and I stayed up way too late watching The Cove (all presents were wrapped) and then when we headed to bed around 1am in walks Simon saying, "Merry Christmas!" and wanting to know if Santa had visited yet? He crawled into bed with us and went back to sleep before waking at 5am ready to celebrate. Mommy + Daddy were tired (note to self: get in bed earlier next year). We were able to hold him off a bit longer and then we made our way downstairs after hearing Anna's wake-up yell of "Mama!!!" If Simon could have dived into the pile of presents I think he would have - he was seriously so, so excited. It was chaos and magic and delight and fun. Simon danced around the room after finding that Santa brought him the Lego Hogwarts Castle. Anna's favorite was a new baby doll. Chris' parents and Grandparents came over for dinner. They actually brought dinner over which was a very special treat for me! I really, really missed my parents, siblings and their families.

Love that photo of Chris and Anna, the one of Simon and Anna cute and priceless also. So happy for you and the happy times they had in the morning. We were up by four with the kids excitement and could only hold them off till 445 so by 5;30 the presents were opened and the games began. I too am done with the album, need to finish my PL2010 and get ready for 2011. Thank you sooooo much for helping me create this journal and these precious memories of our month.

I have looked at four stores for your Sharpie poster marker and can't find it anywhere, where did you get yours? Thanks for helping.

Hoping to have my finished album up later today or tomorrow.

Great final pages! Thanks so much for the inspiration and motivation throughout the month. I am still going on my book: I made it to go to the end of the month because I wanted to include New Year's too. Being a teacher, I am using this week off of school to get caught up on my book. You mentioned rings: I was at a scrap weekend back in November when I designed my book and didn't bring any rings with me. It was probably close to midnight and I went to the vendors looking for rings. One lovely lady happened to have shower curtain hooks that she displayed her products with. She generously gave me three and I used those to hold together my book. It is something different certainly and I love that I didn't have to purchase something new. The ones I have are gold- but I am sure you could find them in a variety of colors, etc. Best of luck!

Love the photos. Oh Anna is getting so big! Thanks for sharing. I too am in "embrace" mode, as I get frustrated that the pictures out of my printer don't look like those on my screen.

I see your new Selphy in the back? Liking it? Santa brought me one, although he didn't realize the printer cartridges were sold separately.

This has been a really great project and has given me the opportunity to pay more attention to things that are important.

Please let me know what you use to hold this book together, ribbon is not working, rings are not working!!

Congratulations on finishing your December Daily album! I'm only on Day 8. :o( But I'm actually working on 2 albums at the same time. The foundations are done. They are similar in terms of the material used, but in a different color scheme. The contents will be almost exactly the same. I am going to send one to my sister who just moved to New York.

I have some 2-inch rings and seemed to be working fine, but I'm open to other options. Please let us know what you come up with.

oh wonderful. I know what you mean.. I am still doing my 25th.. it is harder to do when it is done.. but I have my mind to finish it all off today and post it later. It was a great idea to do it everyday, it kept me on track. I loved all the work everyone has put into their albums, it was so enjoyable to visit all the links. Can't wait for Next year.. this years was fabulous. Now to figure out how to bind it .. the rings are just too small.

Great pics Ali! Oh, btw, my youngest, Ethan (just turned 9) got the Hogwarts Castle for Christmas as well. He spent 8.5 hours separating and sorting and assembling the day after we opened our gifts. Have to love Legos--hours of entertainment!
Thanks again for all that you do to inspire us each day.
    All the best in 2011!

Hi, Ali! Just wanted to say I love the expression on their faces in that photo! Wonderful capture! =)

Yep, I know what you mean. I was determined to make my last Christmas cards on the 24th because I knew I'd have zero energy when the actual day of Christmas would pass by.

Happy holidays to you and your wonderful family! =)

Love these pages! And the photos really do look great. I am not nearly finished, but wondered how you manage to keep your journaling so short for the 24th and 25th? I seem to end up recording EVERY gift and every step of the process ... and its really sort of mundane. Especially when we have 3 parties within 2 days. Do you try and focus on one aspect? Or just one feeling? Or one story from the whole day? I am drowning in photos and stories ...!!

Took down our Christmas stuff today and finished my December Daily yesterday! I was wondering if you know of anyone that carries 2 inch d-rings for albums, I really like d-rings but can't find them anywhere? Beautiful pictures of your family!

My husband and I are retired, so have had a great Christmas getting ready and celebrating with the 10 of us together for 4 days. It's been busy and now I want to sit down and enjoy my decorations and the leftovers and I don't plan to take down the decorations till Jan. 2nd at least. Also I will enjoy finishing up my Dec. daily more if the house is still Christmasy. I have received the things I ordered for the One Little Word class. And I already have my chosen word on a Scrabble piece charm that I gave myself for Christmas last year. Thank you Ali, for the Christmas inspiration all month.

Ali, I love the December Daily. (all if you work really) I have also seen your family gratitude spinner project on Big Picture. I know Christmas is over, but I really want to make a Holiday Traditions Spinner to set out ever season. I am wondering if you would have any tips on where to start with that. Would the Spinner class be a good place to start to give me a foundation?
    Thanks!
    Nancy

I'm so ready to move on as well, but I did design my book to go til the end of December because my AZ son and his wife will be here til then - and a few days beyond. My book is SO thick! Can't wait to sit down and look at the completed project. We all looked at my 2008 DD book last night. I'm SO glad I did it again this year - it's wonderful to relive the whole month and all we did that really encompasses the "holidays" rather than just "the day" of Christmas. Next year, I think I'm going to go digital... :)

I have shared and loved every moment of the december daily 2010 which is new to me this year. I live in the uk and crafters are very different over here. Mainly in to card making. My love is photography and preserving memories. Many of my friends take photos only on special occasions. My pictures are part of my life diary. I would love to take part in the becky higgins 365 days but not sure if they deliver to uk. I also am not in any way over the whole christmas thing, I'll enjoy it until new year! My dec daily lives on until the 31st! Thanks for the inspiration - I love to see what you are all doing xxx
