Thankful Thought | No.1

I love that when my parents come to visit my kids only want Grandma to put them to bed.

"Grandma do it." says Anna.

"Grandma!" calls Simon as he rounds the corner to go upstairs to his bedroom.

I'm so thankful for that relationship.

I'm starting a new occasional series called Thankful Thoughts and you're invited to join me.

Each time I post a Thankful Thought (a photo + a few words) I'll include a free numbered overlay download for you to add to your own photo. I'm also included a rounded-corner photo mask in this first download for those of you who'd like to have rounded-corners on your photo.

Download Thankful Thought | 001 here.

Also for this first download I put together a video tutorial on how to use the overlay and the rounded-corner photo mask.

How blessed your kids are! Both my parents & my husband's parents are deceased so our kids are without grandparents and that breaks my heart for them that they miss out on that kind of relationship. I can empathize with them though as I grew up without grandparents as well. Reading your post made me smile, reading how much your kids love their grandparents. Thanks for the overlay!

    Happy Weekend~

THANK YOU!!! I loved the overlay when I saw it and am delighted you are sharing. What settings did you use for the photo? I still have issues with low lighting and no flash...I get really blurry shots or really dark ones...

This photo was actually taken with the Photo Booth program on my laptop. I was sitting on the couch so I just turned it around and caught them as they were interacting.

Ali, thank you so much for posting the tutorial on adding overlays! I bought some of yours a few days ago, but I am new to photoshop elements and was not having an easy time... after watching your video I am adding overlays to everything and loving it, I still have a lot to learn but for now I am having so much fun!!!

Reading your thankful thought reminds me of my friend's two children. I live about two and a half hours away from them, but every time I visit, her son and daughter consider me the "go-to" person for bedtime...for hand-washing before dinner...for a variety of their daily tasks that require an adult. It's such a lovely blessing to be so appreciated and loved by children in that way!!
