GIVEAWAY | Two people will each receive a spot in the Up & Running Summer 5K Beginners Course, which starts on 13 June.

Up & Running provides unique online running classes for women. If you've always thought running was reserved for sporty types with bouncing ponytails, we're here to help you discover that running is for everyone. Our 5K Beginners Course is not the usual boring "walk 5 mins, run 5 minutes" program. We offer expert coaching from renowned coach Julia Jones, unlimited support from our community forums, and a mind and body approach that has been tried and tested with thousands of women around the world. Whether you've dabbled in running before or completely new to exercise, we'll not only help you start running safely, we'll get your mind in the right place too.

"Up & Running really has been the best thing I have done for myself in years, and not just for the running. My confidence and happiness in my own skin has increased so much and I love what my body can DO, rather than obsessing about what it looks like."
- Philippa, UK, Spring 5K course

My Mom has always been careful about giving advice but she has certainly been a great role model. She is kind, forgiving and caring. I have learned to be compassionate from my Mom - it's actually a gift to one's self. It's hard work and unpleasant to be judgmental, jealous or spiteful.

my mom has always reminded me that we don't know what the next day may bring. To always tell those we care about how we feel and that we love them. To never walk out on an argument with mean words.

My mom has and still continues to teach me so much but growing up I always remember when I was so worried or upset about something she would always say "this too shall pass". Happy Mother's Day!

My mother taught me how to keep a house clean. I am trying to teach my kids the same thing, but for some reason they are having a hard time embracing the joy of a clean house. But that's just one practical thing she taught me. She has been such a great example of strength and perseverance, as well. She's a great woman.

My Mama has always been my best friend. She's taught me so much, but most recently that God will put you through hell and you can make it through and come out feeling brand new.

I lost my Mom when I was ten, but she taught me the beauty of the written words - she would have me read poetry to her while she cooked. She taught me to read very young and told me it would take me any place my imagination could go!

My Mum taught me about perspective - when I was catrophising about something she would listen carefully and 'Oh Melinda - on a scale of 1 to 1000 I think that's about a 10'. That little saying has helped me keep things in perspective a lot over the years and save the catrophising for when it is really needed!

My mom always taught me the importance of family AND that biology doesn't always make a family! At the time she meant close friends and even neighbors but now that I have two adopted boys it means the world to me that she felt this way.

(She also taught me a lot of old Cuban wives tales which can be really good for a laugh!)

    Happy Mother's day!

My Mom gave me the courage to make the leap and purchase our first house. We were scared about the financial responsibility but she gave me the encouragement to move forward.

There are two things my mom has always said the first is "If something is stressing you out, ask yourself "is this going to matter 5 years from now? if not, it is no big deal." The other thing is "Don't make your bed where you make your bread".
The other is "If you know you are telling the truth then it does not matter what someone else thinks - as long as you are true to yourself."
I have passed both of these onto my 19 year old daughter.
