Project Life | Week Thirty-Eight
Welcome to Project Life | Week Thirty-Eight.
There's something really kind of wonderful about a very simple week. No inserts. Not a lot of extras. Just words and photos.
And it really was all about pirates last week. Simon's Jack Sparrow (from Pirates of the Caribbean) costume arrived and I'm pretty sure he wore it every single day. In addition he watched all the movies and played with his pirate legos. We also picked up a Pirates of the Caribbean book for him but he chose to keep reading Diary Of A Wimpy Kid Rodrick Rules.
Anna's going to be Tiana from The Princess and The Frog. She also found a Dorothy costume at Target last week so she might change her mind. I'm cool either way - costumes have always been a fun thing to have around here.
And tis the season for soup. I made split pea on Sunday and am still planning to try this lasagna soup I saw on Pinterest (thought I was going to do it last week but ended up doing chicken noodle because I had some chicken in the fridge I needed to use first).
I'm heading out of the country for the Scrapmap Italy event this weekend so it will be a couple weeks before I post another Project Life update. I'm planning to encourage my parents to do some writing on the journal cards while I'm gone - I know they'll be taking photos. Most likely I won't add a bunch of my travel photos to this album - I might add a few just for context but I'll make those decisions when I get back home.
Project Life is a product created by Becky Higgins. It can be anything you want it to be. The pieces of the album kit (similar to the one I’m using) are available here. If you live outside the US check Becky’s site for more information on sources. View all my posts about Project Life here.
save travels. hope you have an enjoyable trip to Italy.

Simon makes an awefully handsome Captain Jack Sparrow (my grandson did the same several years ago and looked SO cute, but he even used the eyeliner). I just LOVE those pictures.
Have a WONDERFUL time in Italy.
I hope your parents know how much it will mean to your children (and you) in later years to have something in their handwriting. I really wish I had something in my dad's handwriting, but it's too late now.

As always, thanks for showing. I want to do this project next year, because I fell in love with it on your blog. I am not yet sure which page protectors to take, because the ones from Becky Higgins are not available in my country.
Ali, can you recommend some similar ones?
I am living in Germany.
Thanks for letting me know!
Where are you located Susanne? I know she's got a few options for international purchases.
I have heard that amazon.co.uk will be selling official Project Life supplies at the end of 2011/beginning of 2012 and that they will deliver to Germany.
I am in the UK and have had the same trouble loctaing page protectors. I currently use We R Memory keepers 6x4 page protectors. hope this helps x

Just a beautiful layout - the green cards complete the photos beautifully with the contrast of the red highlights in the cards and the photos.

ali, i LOVE these posts. and i'm almost (almost!) tempted to do Project Life myself (I did it in a digital version when my husband was deployed). I guess my ONE question is whether or not you feel like, at the end of a few years, that you'll have TOO MANY BOOKS! I mean, i stopped scrapbooking JUST because the books were so huge & bulky. and with you already on book THREE just for one year, do you worry about storage space?!?
Good question. I think right now I'm really trying not to judge it and just go with what feels good :) - this project has felt really great this year and has been a great way to document our lives. I have three albums mainly because I've added a bunch of extra pages - stories that are longer and additional photos. In the future maybe I won't be as assertive in adding more pages and maybe I will...not sure yet.

Okay! I ordered my Project Life kits this weekend!! I can't wait to start (I have to go backwards a couple weeks, but I am planning to do one for every week of my son's life...he's only 12 weeks old right now...) :-)!!!
That will be so awesome Laura!

I am new to scrapbooking and accumulated all kinds of "stash" of random items and then felt completely overwhelmed before I started. I am going to start a Project Life album (I think it will be easier and more streamlined for me) but I am wondering how can I incorporate some of my stash/supplies into PL so that I don't waste it?
