IF THIS IS YOUR FIRST TIME HERE, WELCOME! Normally a process post like this would happen over on my Projects blog but since this one includes a giveaway it's happening here (and there's lots of December Daily goodness happening over there). If you'd like to learn more about my site check out my Welcome or About Ali pages.

Here's a look at a stamp I love from the new catalog and the one I'm using in my layout today:

Hello zig zag!

I decided to do a page that highlights some of the things I love about Anna right now.

Here's a look at my process:

I used the new Hero Arts Zig Zag stamp to create a pattern on my white cardstock with Jenni Bowlin Chewing Gum and Malted Milk inks. I didn't stress about making it perfect because I knew I would be adding content on top.

I started by adding a sticker border (Sassafras for Studio Calico) along the bottom - popping it up with foam dots.

I knew I wanted the title to read "Things I love" and I hoped it would fit in that space. Chipboard letters are American Crafts Goodness by Amy Tangerine.

Photo is 4x6 and was printed with a white border.

And yes, another one of those wood flags is popping up here. I love those things.

"Beautiful" is from a set of GCD Studios Melody Ross Soul Food Collection Chipboard Stickers.

For the journaling I used one of my Awakening 4x6 overlays. I opened it in Photoshop, added my text and printed on cardstock.

Along the bottom of the overlay I added a bit of washi tape (I think that came in a Studio Calico kit), her initials in those great little Lily Bee alphabet letter stickers, and an old metal arrow (I think from 7gypsies). Love those arrows. Someone should make those again.

My favorite holiday tradition is tradition itself... the familiarity of the things we do each year and knowing we share these things with family for the holidays.

Favorite holiday tradition are the advent calendars. This year the kids put one together for us! It is so fun and we love it!
P.S. Ali, I bought myself the Lego City Advent this year. I LOVE legos (I am only 45 years old...ha) and we laughed so much at the first days of the advent. This Lego City is not looking like a good place...Day 1 (bad guy), Day 2...catalpult, Day 3...part of jail cell, Day 4...police officer with a smirk on his face, Day 5...more pieces of jail..........TOO FUN (and NOT very holiday)!

There are SO many, mostly watching my children "grow". AND making cookies with one of my best buddies. We have done this for years together. This year will be even more bittersweet as she unexpectedly lost her husband the end of August.

My favorite holiday tradition is our extended family gatherings. There are no gift expectations; we only enjoy each others' company, great stories from years past, and a delicious meal.

One of my favorite traditions when I lived near my daughter and grand daughter was putting up our Christmas village. Making up stories about the people that lived there. Thinking every thing was perfect, never the same two years in a row, and then moving the people around every couple of days to change the story. This year I gifted them with my village. My hope is that they have as many good memories as I do of putting up the village and story telling. Loved you use of the Hero Arts background stamp. Glad I found your blogs.

As a Southern Hemisphere dweller my favourite tradition at Christmas is a bit strange to those in the North. A couple of days before Christmas my extended family goes pea picking. It is a good time spent with multi generations and then we all sit round and pod the peas and gossip. Good times!

That zig zag/chevron stamp is a winner! We have so many Christmas traditions that I love but one of my favorites is driving around and checking out everyone's outside Christmas decorations. We usually combine that with a quick dinner out and a trip to a favorite store that sells all kinds of Christmas items.

My favorite Christmas tradition is my husband and I sharing a glass of wine in front of the fireplace on Christmas Eve, and opening 1 special gift to each other.

Ah, I love that layout. I wish I would have been more creative and thought of doing all the journaling when my children were little.

My favorite holiday tradition is decorating my house for Christmas. I want my family to get that warm and joyous feeling of Christmas, even though they are adults !!!! When we are children, everything about Christmas is so eye opening, so I want to recapture and let them have memories of their childhood Christmas's.

We read the Bible and the "Night Before Christmas" on Christmas Eve together as a family (or with extended family if we are all together). And we open our stockings first thing Christmas morning when it's still quiet and even if others are asleep. It gives us something to open and enjoy if we are waiting for others to wake up.
