Welcome to the 2012 Hero Arts Catalog Blog Hop!

GIVEAWAY | Three people will each receive three new stamps from Hero Arts new 2012 catalog.

Here's two of the three sets of stamps that I'll be giving away:

Also, Hero Arts will also be giving away five prize packs that include brand new 2012 Catalog stamps. The five winners will be randomly chosen from ALL of the blog hop comments received by midnight PST on Monday, December 12, and will be announced on the Hero Arts blog shortly thereafter.

All the new stamps will be available on December 10th. Check out HeroArts.com for a store near you.

IF THIS IS YOUR FIRST TIME HERE, WELCOME! Normally a process post like this would happen over on my Projects blog but since this one includes a giveaway it's happening here (and there's lots of December Daily goodness happening over there). If you'd like to learn more about my site check out my Welcome or About Ali pages.

Here's a look at a stamp I love from the new catalog and the one I'm using in my layout today:

Hello zig zag!

I decided to do a page that highlights some of the things I love about Anna right now.

Here's a look at my process:

I used the new Hero Arts Zig Zag stamp to create a pattern on my white cardstock with Jenni Bowlin Chewing Gum and Malted Milk inks. I didn't stress about making it perfect because I knew I would be adding content on top.

I started by adding a sticker border (Sassafras for Studio Calico) along the bottom - popping it up with foam dots.

I knew I wanted the title to read "Things I love" and I hoped it would fit in that space. Chipboard letters are American Crafts Goodness by Amy Tangerine.

Photo is 4x6 and was printed with a white border.

And yes, another one of those wood flags is popping up here. I love those things.

"Beautiful" is from a set of GCD Studios Melody Ross Soul Food Collection Chipboard Stickers.

For the journaling I used one of my Awakening 4x6 overlays. I opened it in Photoshop, added my text and printed on cardstock.

Along the bottom of the overlay I added a bit of washi tape (I think that came in a Studio Calico kit), her initials in those great little Lily Bee alphabet letter stickers, and an old metal arrow (I think from 7gypsies). Love those arrows. Someone should make those again.

My favorite holiday tradition is taking photgraphs with Santa. I know this sounds like a very common thing but just picture my grown boys waiting in line to take a picture with Santa. They are 26, 20 and 16 years old. (smile) I LOVE IT!

My favorite tradition is decorating the house--getting all of the storage boxes out and reminiscing about past Christmases using these same items.

My favorite holiday tradition is enjoying a glass of wine with my husband Christmas Eve once the stockings are filled and the gifts are under the tree. I look forward to those few moments when we stand back and admire the tree together and look forward to the reactions of our kids in the morning.

I love shutting off all the lights except for those on the Christmas tree. It gives the whole room a soft, peaceful glow.

My mother always kept an ornate glass punch bowl filled with old vintage glass ornaments on the table. The pretty pink and blue ones... Although she passed away when I was 7 I still remember that decoration and now have one of my own. Love it!

I started a new holiday tradition for my family a couple of years ago by building a big advent tree made out of boxes and placing little candies/gifts/messages in the boxes. Every day in December, my kids open a box to find a little gift inside. This, by far, is my kids' most favorite tradition.

Beautiful page, Ali! Anna is one lucky girl - and you're right - she just looks happy! I think my favorite tradition every year is getting out my ornaments and thinking about their history. Many of mine are homemade. Love them.

Making cut out sugar cookies. I always stress over whether they will roll out well, but the tasty results are worth it! It's not Christmas without these cookies!
