For The Love Of Laughing

Sometimes it can be painfully obvious to myself that I might be a little too serious.

Last night Anna I and climbed onto her bed to read some of her new library books.

The first one she picked out is called Walter The Farting Dog.

Okay, ha, ha. Sounds funny and silly and perfect for my three-year-old who loves nothing more than saying any number of phrases related to poop.

I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard.

And I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard with her.

And I know she liked that because I could see the surprise and delight on her face at seeing my laughing so effortlessly.

I bet we'll read it again tonight.

The whole series is funny. My kids love it! And as ashamed as I am to admit this, one night while reading it, I even convinced them it was scratch-n-sniff. That added a whole new level to the humor!

sometimes we need to laugh with kids...they are so delightful...and to follow their lead...they can teach US so many things...when we just listen...

Too funny! The only problem I have is with the title! It should be Bella ( one of our dogs) the Farting Dog! Gonna be interesting to see how this shows up in ur PL or on a layout! ;)
Good stuff. Here's to a lot more laughter in your days. :)

Laughing together is wonderful! I'll love to recommend this book "The Story of the Little Mole who knew it was None of his Business" by Werner Holzwarth/wolf Erlbruch, story of the poopy kind. Kids like Anna age who's going thru the toilet training phase will especially find it great fun to read. My boy is alrdy 10 but we still laugh ourselves silly reading this book.

Aw what a nice refreshing story. Sometimes in our house, we forget to laugh, especially without having kids and the excuse to laugh every day. Our rabbits make us laugh though with their quirky ways.

this is cute and reminds me of a cute story about farts! My niece was about Anna's age when we were driving in the car, she farted and annouced it. I said, Oh sweetie, little girls don't fart they fluff! her response to that was, "No, I farted!" She is not 15 and we giggle about this everytime we get together!

I think we feel laughter is somehow wrong when major life changes are happening. Yet laughter is a wonderful medicine. It really does improve our outlook and give us a much-needed boost of endorphins.

    Laughter is the best medicine!
May you find many more moments of laughter entering your life in the coming days.

    Ali-
I can relate to this. I am a 32 year old mom of 2. My son is 5 and daughter is 20 months. I too-take life too seriously, uh, a lot. Work consumes my life, let's admit it...a lot. It's sad when my son does something that makes me laugh-he stops and says..."look, mommy, your laughing!" I literally wanted to cry. Really? I am 32 years old and have 2 awesome kids and they really notice these things. Big wake up call for me! This is why I love reading your blog. Everyday life. Take it in. Enjoy. Thank you!

I am so glad Anna saw her laughing Mother! We have to be aware of showing and teaching our children about all of our emotions. Friends of ours had their first child in their late 40's and in their quest to be the super parents they read a suggestion that they smile and laugh often! Seems obvious but they were very structured serious people and needed to remind them selves to play. love everything you say, so many things to apply to daily life and keeping our memories alive.

We loved that book at our house too. When our son was older he read the day my butt went psycho series (yes there is a series). He laughed so hard over this book we read it together and it
really is funny. Although, my son is an avid reader if you know or hear of a child (3rd-6th grade) who does not enjoy reading recommend the series.

I LOVE this book! I read it last month to my grade 2 class and they absolutely loved it too. I almost couldn't get through it, as I was laughing as hard as they were. It was a very popular pick that week out of our class library.

Great reminder to not take ourselves too seriously. I don't have kids yet, but I bet my husband would love to see some genuine joy and wonderment instead of serious contemplation all the time.

I'll have to look for that one for my four-year-old. The rest of the kids (even the 16-year-old) will probably enjoy it too. Thanks. :)

We have Walter too! I bought it when I was pregnant because it completely cracked me up. Maybe it was the hormones! There is a stuffed farting Walter that you can also get. He's a good dog.

Author is from my home state of Maine - we LOVE Walter!!! Also try Farley the Farting Frog - from Norway I think - equally delightful & will support your One Little Word UP since he gets so full of gas he blows up like a ballon & floats up onto the sky - good stuff.
