Week In The Life 2012 | Monday Words + Photos
NUMBER OF PHOTOS FOR MONDAY | 184 regular camera + 20 or so on my iphone
That's a whole lot of photos.
I felt calm today. I tried not to obsess about the content. I tried to simply be mindful. I grabbed my camera lots of times when I would have normally just left it alone.
I can tell Simon is getting older because he's starting to put his hand up in front of his face and say no.
As you'll see, I'm taking quite a few self-portraits. I used the self-timer on all those shots. I can't find my wireless remote - I need to go through some of my jacket pockets and see if I can locate it. For most of the self-portrait shots I took between one and three before moving on with whatever I was doing in my life at the time (vs. going on and on to get the "perfect" capture). The two of me at Anna's soccer practice were taken by Chris.
These photos are un-edited. There's a few that I'll probably lighten up or crop when I have a bit more time before actually printing them.
I ran out of time last night to get my words scanned in - I'll do that Tuesday morning and add it to this post.
Here's a few of my Monday photos (from morning to evening in order):
It was a good, regular day around here. So thankful for the sun.

Well I jumped off the diving board, plunged in with all of my heart. Completed day 1 and love it! I had so much gusto that I (mostly) fully completed my pages and are posted on my link : Kimberly's Week in the life - Day 1 2012.
Im a newbie, so I will be getting inspiration from all of you!
Awesome. Awesome. Awesome.

Great pictures -especially love the photo of you and Anna holding hands and you and Simon hugging. I have a question: what settings are you using on your camera? Are you using manual mode? Thanks for sharing!
I shoot in AV - adjusting the ISO up and down as needed (anywhere from 100 outside to 2500 inside at night).

Love these photos--so inspiring. Sorry to hear that Simon is hitting that no-photos age. That is a great trial for us photographers. I have a 16yo son that has been doing that for a while. I think he finally turned a corner when he saw photos from his brother's wedding last spring--everyone was smiling and looking great . . . except him. Truth dawned that photos of him are way better when he participates and now he cooperates *most* of the time!

I enjoyed seeing the pictures of your day. I need to be more generous with the pictures I take.

I've been so bad at taking photos with my dslr lately, thanks to week in the life I'm reminded to pick it up more often. Love it!
That's one of the things I love about this project - it reconnects me with my big camera :).

This is the first time I'm doing WITL. I actually started on Sunday since I was driving home from a conference in Chicago and wanted to record that. I'm not taking a ton of pics (how many of the computer screen at work can one take?) but I AM taking pics. Like others, my hubby is amused but indulgent. I actually took a great pic of him on the patio last evening. I'm also not obsessing about recording...I don't journal a whole lot no matter what so I'm not going to get uptight about not having a lot of words. So far, I'm loving it.

i'm feeling really calm about this whole project too. i think not putting so much pressure to have an end result at the moment is really helping my attitude as i collect the words and photos this week.
as for your photos...there is so much to love here ali! the soft lighting in the kids room in the evening is the best:)

You have a beautiful home -- I love all the light. And as a mom of a toddler, I am impressed by how clean it looks.

Ali, Every time I do this I am reminded of this crazy, amazing life I have. I find it so easy to forget during the regular ins & outs of life where days, weeks & months seem to go by faster & faster (as I get older & older! ha). Navigating. Making my way and helping these little ones learn & grow & teaching them how to make theirs (as much as they teach me it seems). I keep coming back because of one reason: it never ceases to amaze me that THIS IS IT. THIS IS MY LIFE. (with every emotion under the sun!) So much thanks, Ali. Heidi p.s. Love the photos.

I saw peace through your photos today; I hope that means healing has begun.
Thank you for your encouragement yesterday about shaking off my photo-taking funk. Dusted off the big camera and started taking shots of everything. My kids were all excited and kept asking me what we were celebrating, is someone coming for a visit?, is it a special holiday? -- how telling is that. They can't wait for me to download all the shots so they can view the photos on my big SuperMac display. I had forgotten how much we love that. Thanks for re-igniting the fire; I will tend to the flames more carefully from now on.
Wonderful. I've been there and I know just how powerful it can be to see through the lens again (even when it sounds like the least fun thing to do).

As always I love your photos. I'm a bit sad I won;t be doing WITL right now with you. Just too many day to day things, and it will be a little easier in a month or so. Though, it's more fun with the group.
Anyway--I love the composition/color shot of your feet and the dandelion. And, I can totally relate to kids not wanting their picture taken. I think we've gotten to a point where they accept my photo-taking, and they tease me about it all the time.

Wow...Lots of really good shots! My favorites: First pic of morning sunshine coming through the blinds, lunch (looks very yummy and very healthy), Simon having just gotten off the school bus, barefeet in the grass with single dandelion, you kicking soccer ball to Anna, bedtime with Anna. Lovely!

Ali, it's so good to know that someone else in the world who loves to scrapbook has children that are not always cooperative! I think that's one of the main reasons why I don't have the heart to try project life or week in the life - it's discouraging to me when neither of my kids is willing to allow me to capture their faces without it being a sneak attack! I guess maybe I've gotten too many daily routine type pics already and that's why they've decided it's enough? I would love to see photos like those from my childhood, though, instead of just pulling from my memory, which isn't always that good...Thanks for the encouragement and insights!

It really does find the beauty in your day doesn't it! Love the feel as the shots go from the morning light into day and then night time. Love your lunch. And love Simon's enthusiasm to get home and Anna at soccer - great shots.
