The Weekend Lens

Here are some scenes from a weekend getaway to Palm Springs with my sister and a gathering of her East and West coast friends.

I love my sister. She's one of the most kind, intelligent, loving and considerate people I know. And we really don't get to see each other enough. We try to get together at least a couple times a year - often over Spring Break and then again at Halloween. This was the first time since our daughter's were born that we got together without kids in tow.

The fun included going to a Blowdry & Beauty Bar in Palm Dessert called All Tressed Up for hair and make-up. So fun to get all fancy and then go to dinner at The Parker (and so totally something that I don't usually do).

This weekend was really all about celebrating my sister. Her amazing friend Jordan put together a beautiful brunch.

We had a spa day at SpaTerre at The Riviera. I can't remember the last time I had a facial.

We shared delicious drinks and food and relaxed and talked and talked and talked. Exactly how it should be.

And we had a yoga session by the pool. We all really loved this part - the yoga instructor was awesome.

Love you guys so much. So happy to get to celebrate my sister with her best friends.

Such a wonderful time it looks like all of you had! So awesome you got to spend time with your sister and with her best friends. It's wonderful to make and to share memories like that with one's siblings as adults. My sisters (did) and do live far from me, and we often went/go a year or more without seeing each other. It's sad that it is such a long period of time, but at the same time, it makes us focus on cherishing each minute together. Thanks for sharing Ali! Take care you.

Your blog is the first one I open every morning. I love the check for great photo ideas, great scrapbook ideas and seeing all the fun you experience in your life. So when a question came up you were the first one I thought of. I am hopeful either you or your viewers might have an idea for me. I am getting ready to purchase a new computer and want to make sure I do not lose my pictures. I have saved them to disks but it was recommended I place them on a Cloud. Never having done anything like that before I am confused which one to use. Any recommendations on which online photo storage sites would be a good one to try? Thanks

Hi Pat - I'm currently using Crash Plan for my "cloud" storage (in addition to using external hard-drives for local storage). Super happy with their service so far.

So gorgeous! You, I mean. ...and I am a kind of dining table/place setting geek. I love a beautifully set table! So love that! Looks like a wonderful time! Makes me miss my sister - we just don't get together enough anymore!

This trip looks WONDERFUL! I would LOVE to go away somewhere with my girlfriends (I'm an only child, so no sister getaways for me) without my kids in tow. Somewhere that's far away from home, and a trip that lasts longer than a trip to Costco. LOL. The photos you shared are beautiful and no doubt captured some very great memories :) That brunch set up looks uh-may-zeen, and I'm so jealous of yoga by the pool...IN THE SUN! Thanks for sharing :)
