Studio AE Blog Hop from Technique Tuesday | April 2013

Welcome to the April Studio AE Blog Hop from Technique Tuesday!

Technique Tuesday offers a monthly stamp club that features a limited edition stamp set designed by me each month. You can check out past stamp sets (some are still available) here.

The April stamp set is Favorite Circles:

DIGITAL MEMORY KEEPER OR WOULD YOU LIKE TO USE THIS DESIGN WITH A SILHOUETTE? A similar digital version of this stamp set is available here: Title Circles

Here's a look at the layout I created that includes the April Studio AE set:

I started off this layout with a 5x7 photo of Anna, a sheet of 12x12 white cardstock, and a great piece of pattern paper that was included in the March Studio Calico scrapbook kit (designed by Tim&Beck). I knew I wanted to try this stamp set on vellum so I played around with thinking about where I'd place that element (and how many circles I'd want to include).

I adhered the photo and the pattern paper diagonally on the page. Below I added some of this great super thick ombre washi tape from Freckled Fawn (this was included with the Studio Calico Front Row scrapbook kit).

Along the top I added this great cloud washi tape from Ki Memories.

Along the seam where the photo and the pattern paper meet I added a cluster of sentiment embellishments included this month's stamp set. I used white ColorBox ink on vellum (also included with the Studio Calico Front Row scrapbook kit) and punched it out using a 2-inch circle punch. I trimmed the bottom of the circle to line it up with the rest of the sentiments. On top of the stamped circle I added an "A" from a set of Dear Lizzy Spearmint chipboard letters.

"You Are A Superstar" transparency is from BasicGrey Knee Highs & Bow Ties Die Cuts And Transparencies.

"I love this photo" is from Allison Kreft's new collection for Webster's Pages. This one is from a sticker sheet called Composition & Color Alpha And Tag Stickers.

The green "awesome" strip is actually from this month's stamp set. I used a dark green ink, stamped the circle on the pattern paper and then ended up cutting off the rest of the circle and just using the word.

And because I can't stop using them I stamped "so much love" from the Just Awesome stamp set.

After placing all my elements I added yellow spray ink to the bottom and top of the page (I covered the rest of the page with an extra piece of cardstock so the mist spray wouldn't hit the other elements on the page). On top of the spray ink I added some of Tim Holtz' new Distress Paint in Antique Linen on top of a 6x6 swiss dot mask from The Crafters Workshop.

I used Mini Glue Dots to adhere the great little combination of an enamel dot + a sequin. I added three total for a nice visual triangle on my layout.

Along the bottom I used the stencil again but this time used ColorBox silver ink (instead of the paint).

On top of the ombre washi tape I added glitter chipboard letters are Dear Lizzy for my title and stitched them down with my sewing machine. Check out the chipboard letters in both Vanilla and Spearmint.

The silver pen I used to draw the box around the top and bottom edge of the page is from Close To My Heart.

Journaling was added under the title directly onto the thick strip of washi tape.

Here's another look at the finished layout:

I am inspired by your fantastic Project Life album spreads when you post them, but I am so happy that you're sharing some "regular" layouts again, too. This one is just beautiful. I love all the awesome details and especially how you used the extra-wide washi tape.

Great layout. I like how you did the dotted swiss 6x6 mat and the way you used the paint over the top and the ink over the bottom. Love your work.

Hi Ali, This page is so inspiring. The happy spring colors, textures, and of course, the beautiful girl in the photo made me smile. I have yet to create a scrapbook of my son's wedding, almost 2 years ago, having lacked the spark. Your sharing your own story, feeling uninspired to do the "traditional" struck a chord with me. I now feel like I can do this project with the love I feel. Thank you.
