For The Love Of Sweet Lily Girl
Our sweet Lily girl passed away peacefully yesterday after an awesome last run on the beach she loved so much.
She was the most fabulous friend and we will miss her everyday. She had a wonderfully full life during her 12+ years with us. She especially loved going hunting with Chris or my Dad, running on the beach, and hanging out with me in my office.
She was my constant companion and was by my side during all the best and most challenging times. I had the thought today that maybe she stayed around (she was very sick in the summer of 2011 but pulled through) to be with me during the time I needed her most.
I am so thankful she was a part of my life.
Love you Lily girl. Thank you.
See more photos and read a post from 2011 about her story here.
I'm so sorry to hear this and I totally agree that they stay around when you need them the most and leave when they are happy that you can make it in your own. God Speed Lily. Hugs

Ali -
You have my sympathy. I know how hard it is to lose a pet, they are part of your family. And I do believe you are right, I think Lily stayed around to help you through the difficult times you've had in the last year. Rest in peace sweet Lily.

I don't doubt that Lily did stay to help you through some difficult times...dogs are so perceptive. Especially a lab, I'm sure all she wanted to do was please you. You and your kids must be heartbroken. They are very important members of our families, and it's hard when they're gone. Wishing you the best.

Almost a month ago our constant companion of 16 years, Beethoven (a dauschand-basset hound mix), passed away. He lived with Heather and I longer than the kids are old and has always been in the kids lives. Although it doesn't make ti any easier, We knew this time was approaching. We could not have asked for a better friend.

Tears for you and your family Ali (literally they are running down my face). So sad to lose such a cherished family member. She may have stayed to help you during your time of need. I lost my 13 yo Shepherd/Collie mix and my 15 yo JRT last year. I miss them every day. But, in their places are now my newer babies and I know they would have wanted it that way. You will so appreciate all the photos and memories later. It is still hard for me to look at the photos but they bring back a lot of fun, happy memories from all those years too.

Very sorry to hear that Lily's time here has passed. She lived a long life and seemed to have brought great joy to many - and that's wonderful.
I'm not sure how familiar you are with the author Neil Gaiman, but he lost his beloved dog earlier this year and wrote a bit about how he felt similarly about the dog being there when he needed someone/thing. Ali,
So so sorry to hear about Lily. Losing our fur babies is so hard. Take comfort in the fact that she is in doggy heaven, in no pain & running on the beach every day.
(I am crying as I write this to you & I'm at work...:(

So sorry Ali that you have lost your Lily. I know how hard it is to lose a beloved pet, my cat Tinker died in May of 2011, he was 14 years old and the best pet I have ever had. It takes time, but the memories are always sweet.

So very sad to hear this although I know she is running and frolicking in a happier place now. After all these years, I felt like I kind of "knew" her.
