Hey Friends

AE_scripted

Hey friends.

Just a short note to tell you that I'm still here even if this spot has been quiet lately.

I've currently got over 90 drafts in my blog posting folder about everything from how to work with the 3x4 Layered Sentiment Cards to photos from my China trip to "smoochies" to 5 Trips For A Beginning Scrapbooker.

I'm writing. About life and scrapbook pages and finishing projects and birthdays.

I'm creating content for One Little Word. A new prompt will be available on Saturday and there's still time to join if you'd like some inspiration on keeping your word visible throughout the year.

I'm reading. Finished 7 and have started Packing Light. Picking up Wild and making my way through that one. Reading Charlotte's Web to the kids out loud in the evenings could be one of the best decisions I've ever made (we're almost done and will be moving on to The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe). And man it feels so good to be back into the nightly routine of reading books. So, so good.

I'm planning Anna's 5th birthday party for next weekend. Bring on the rainbows.

I'm exercising. I started. For real. And just making the choice to start and actually starting again feels so good. I bought a kettle bell. I set up the TV in my room to do it in the evening after the kids go to bed. I found some workouts on You Tube that I could watch through the Apple TV. And I did them. I went with Katie & Peter last night to the gym for an hour of cardio.

I'm practicing script writing for Kal's Life | Scripted workshop at Studio Calico (see image above). Registration closes soon and class begins February 1.

I'm putting down the phone. That post was such a catalyst for me to make a change and I've thought about it and taken action every single day since then. It's made such a positive impact all around.

I'm planning and dreaming and implementing. Always.

Hope you have an awesome weekend!

It sounds busy and happy with you Ali. Such a lovely positive post. I think I shall look for Charlotte's Web and read it to my little people as well.

Good for you, Ali!!!! I made a bunch of 2 word NYs resolutions like move more, eat better, be nice, etc., and these little things seem to be working out OK so far - no pressure. Also, I read "Wild" and found it to be extremely inspirational - I intend to read it again. The other book you mentioned, "Packing Light," sounds good also, and I've put it on my wish list on Amazon. Thanks for the tip!

I love reading out loud to Tuesday. Try Tales of a Forth Grade Nothing. I was laughing out loud at the end of it. Seriously, it was hard for me to continue to read it out loud, and we were in a doctor's office, just totally cracking up together.

Great to hear you're doing well! I'm also reading Wild; the beginning is SO sad. My husband and I are also reading through the Narnia series together. Those books are so entertaining! Enjoy reading :)

Hey Ali! I was just watching your video on the Day by Day class, and love so many of the ways you add text to your PL album, but I did have a question. I love the spread where you stamped the numbers onto the pictures, but what ink do you use in order to do that without it smearing? I can't even write with a pen on my pictures without them smearing! ha

    Thank you!

The cyber world isn't going anywhere soon but your kids are, growing, learning, developing each day, each day is one day closer to more independence and adulthood. Balance is the word that came to mind as I finished reading your post, work is such a distraction from our everyday, an everyday that isn't so bad once we completely immerse in it and discover there is just as much joy as there is struggle. January is the perfect time to set goals and intentions as well as boundaries and I am so very grateful for OLW that helps remind me of the live I want to live. Thanks always Ali.

WOW you have certainly been one busy lady. 90 posts?!?! That's crazy impressive - I'm lucky if I have 10 at any given time but I'm trying to work on that. This is good inspiration for sure. Blogging can be so time consuming and I am trying to remember this weekend that being present in the real world and not just online is important - especially when my husband will be out of town for 2 weeks.

I am such a fan of reading... my nephew is a little behind for his age group, so we've all been trying to do things that help him keep progressing. I loved the Lion, Witch and The Wardrobe when I was a child and I think it really opened up my imagination - so proud of both my niece & nephew that they love to read too. It makes me so happy to have them open to a whole world of possibilities through the pages of a book.

Reading this reminds me of when my girls were young (they are aged 27 and 29 now) and I read to them every night. The best was when we began reading "chapter books" like Charlotte's Web and The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. They loved all of them---Other favorites were The Mouse and the Motorcycle, Black Beauty and the Little House on the Prairie series.

Hi Ali. I have a question about your 3x4 Layered Sentiment Cards with the dates of the month. Are you planning to release one for each month? Just checking because I have my whole 2014 Project Life designed around those cards, and I haven't seen one for April yet! Thanks!!
