We are going to be celebrating Simon's birthday tonight with a little party. I ended up getting stuck and delayed yesterday, not making it home until around 11pm. All is good now (yesterday, not so good). Mom is here and we have been having fun wrapping presents, frosting cupcakes that Chris baked yesterday, and getting things ready for a fun evening. Photos to come!
Thanks so much for all the comments yesterday and to those of you that made donations to Autism Speaks yesterday in his honor, thank you so very much.

And want to see some of the silent auction items (money was raised through a silent auction + a raffle)? Go here.

Hi! Ali,
I am a scrapbook beginner. So, I am glad to know everybody's creative essentials. Thank you.
I made a layout with my creative essentials. My favorites are stickers, rub-ons, any non-scrapbooking items. I used a bird feather, a shell and a quote from a fortune cookie on the layout.

WOW! What wonderful things those ladies made! I would like to suggest that you do an on-line auction for autism. I am sure that most of those wonderful women would be happy to donate another item, and many more of us out here. (an "l" this time please Donna) and all of your faithfull readers will be lining up to bid! You could raise tons for the cause!

Mine are these: paper cutter (my tried and true ORIGINAL for the past several years Fiskars 12" and I am not spending $100 on a Genesis, no matter how wonderful everyone says it is), black journling pen, photos, adhesive and a great stock of paper (all kinds, but if i could only have a few colors, I'd probably stick with black and white - always classic). I've gotten away from embellishments again, which is always my way. Get into a trend, go back to paper and photos. Get into another one, get out.
Of course, I'd also have to have music to scrap to (usually something totally cheesy and easy to bop and sing to, "bubble gum pop" as my friend Tina calls it), and something to chomp on - chocolate, preferably!
Or I could just say my computer, as I get more digital. But I'd really really miss paper.

Ali, totally random question here, so I hope it's okay. I was downloading some new tunes today and wanted to get that great great version of "Over the Rainbow", but couldn't remember who sings it. And I remember once you mentioned it on your blog, but I can't remember when and I'm not patient enough to go back through all the archives. So I'm hoping you can tell me if you remember. Sorry for butting in to the comments section, hope you don't mind! And thanks in advance!
Kim

Ali, I want to personally thank you for your idea of selecting a word for the year. I have thought lots about my word and have come up with FOCUS. I have done a mini album about my word and it really made me think about what I wanted for this year - for me and my family. It is great when scrapbooking takes you out of the perserving memories and allows you to look at what you want in your life - your goals, dreams and aspirations. I appreciate you insight on how this word can shape your world.
Here is a picture of my mini-album.
