Thankful : November 17

Kids

Today (and everyday) I am thankful for these two. Even when they are fussy, crying over not being able to beat Count Dooku on Star Wars Wii, teething, feverish, talking back, grabbing everything & putting it in their mouth, upset about doing homework, crying in the middle of the night, whining, yelling for me from across the house, etc. Even then, especially then, I am thankful to have them in my life.

Ali – your photos of the kids…is that border on the inside done in photoshop??? Have you ever thought of adding a photoshop for photographers workshop to your online classes? I would be ALL for that. Along with how to take portraits!
Please continue to make more stamps for Technique Tuesday. I use them in ALL of my layouts!

Is there a way to get that thin frame element in photoshop elements or do you have to create it in illustrator? How would I do that?

Hi Jen – here’s a tutorial on Cathy’s blog that shows how to create a border in Photoshop: http://cathyzielske.typepad.com/my_weblog/2009/07/video-tutorial-create-your-own-photoshop-frame-and-text-overlays.html
You should also check out classes at http://www.jessicasprague.com
No current plans to teach any photoshop-related classes :) .
And I will definitely be adding to my Technique Tuesday collection – thanks for the support!

There is digital frame options at http://www.scrapbookpictures.com. When you go to check there will be an option to add frames and all kinds of cool digital elements. I think they offer something very similar to the white border.
    Hope that helps.

I love that your little Anna is wearing an outfit identical to one I have for my little 7 month old (who is also teething and not sleeping much right now).

It is nice to see that you and your husband have a matched set. One child looks like him and the other looks like you. Beautiful children.

Those are some beautiful tags. Digital paper sometimes looks so strange, but these are very special. Love your usage of big bold letters with a “letterpressed” feeling. Ever had something actually letterpressed? That must be amazing. I find the work from “Studio on Fire” endlessly inspiring, here’s a link to their website and blog (where they show more detailed photos of their prints):

your post makes me smile. I remember those days when I would have to make myself be patient and loving. and I would think I couldn;t take it one more second. Now….well, the house is waaay too quiet and I would go back for one of those messy, noisy, sleepless but house full of love days!

gotta love star wars Wii- even when my 7 year old is yelling at my four year old to- DROP OUT FOR A SECOND- if i had a nickle for everytime i heard that… but i love every minute of the yelling/fighting whining- b/c with it comes so many more moments of the laughing, smiling & the make your heart melt moments those are the priceless moments- just think wihtout them how boring & quiet life would be…

    Ali,
I would like to ASK, if you could tell me where on the Site, I could find ‘overlay frames’ like you have around the children in this post. I need some like this in the ROUND and RECTANGLE form. I found some round ones on the site, but they have ‘words’ on them. I don’t want any words, as I want to use them to FRAME my photos for my AUCTIONS…and add my little logo name myself.
    THANKS.

I’m right with you on the “teething-grabbing everything & putting it in their mouth-crying in the middle of the night” front!
Is it Anna’s first tooth trying to come out?
My 11,5 month baby boy GaĆ«tan has only 2 teeth… plenty more of grumpy-waking up at 2.30am joy ahead of us!
    Good luck!

So beautifully and accurately spoken. (And I do love how that “big boy” look echoes some of those “even whens…” Happy Thanksgiving! Molly
