About One Little Word®
A single word can be a powerful thing. It can be the ripple in the pond that changes everything. It can be sharp and biting or rich and soft and slow.
In 2006 I began a tradition of choosing one word for myself each January – a word to focus on, mediate on, and reflect upon as I go about my daily life. My words have included play, peace, vitality, nurture, story, light, up, open and thrive. These words have each become a part of my life in one way or another. They've been imbedded into who I am and into who I'm becoming. They've been what I've needed most (and didn't know I needed). They've helped me to breathe deeper, to see clearer, to navigate challenges, and to grow.
The January 2015 One Little Word® workshop is now in session here at aliedwards.com.

So what do you do with this One Little Word®?
You live with it. You invite it into you life. You let it speak to you. You might even follow where it leads. There are so many possibilities and no right or wrong way to approach the adventure.
In 2011 I offered my first 12-month One Little Word® workshop as a way to keep my word visible throughout the year. It's so easy to pick a word in January and forget it by March. I knew creating and leading the workshop would make me more accountable and reflective and it would help me connect with others who wanted to stay connected to their chosen words.
The year-long One Little Word® workshop includes simple creative prompts (one per month) in the areas of writing, photography, and collage. The monthly content includes a video overview and supporting materials (such as printables and how-to videos). Printables and other materials are designed to be stored in an 8.5×11 binder album (I stored the first three years in one album).
The One Little Word® community has become a beloved part of this adventure. Through the message board, gallery and closed Facebook group we share our challenges and successes as we strive to invite our individual words into our daily life and live more intentionally.
In 2013 over 3000 people joined me in making our words more visible through the process of the monthly creative prompts.
I'm excited to bring the workshop to my updated Internet home and I hope you'll join me in the journey of making your word visible.
