First Birthday Parties Are Fun

Hat
We celebrated sweet little Anna girl yesterday with a small gathering of family and a couple very special friends. It was just right. Thanks for all the well-wishes and happy birthday's yesterday.

Made her sweet little hat after downloading this digital hat pattern from Kelleigh Ratzlaff Designs and reading this tutorial from Childhood 101. Totally a last minute thing and throughout the process I was so happy and thankful that I am a scrapbooker/crafter who has random supplies on hand (like extra fabric pieces and wonder under and trims).

Room
The poms are from this wonderful etsy shop Pom Love. I love them and will be moving them into her room.

Number1
I found this ceramic number one at an antique store in the beginning of January – it made for a nice centerpiece with some white tulips.

Handsandcake

And the birthday girl? She was so happy (even when she had decided that yesterday was a really good day not to take a nap until about 4pm). This shot of Chris and I each holding her hand while everyone sang Happy Birthday is probably my favorite.

Birthdaycake
She didn't dive into the cake like I thought she might (she's definitely a grabber) but enjoyed a few bits before she was ready to get out of the chair and go play.

Meanna

Anna got a new chair for her birthday. A nice little match to the one that Simon has had and used since he was two or three (from Pottery Barn kids). I took this photo of the two of them the other day:

Chairs
Lovely party. Lovely family & friends. Lovely sweet little girl.

fantastic cuteness! you have a beautiful family, and i hear ya with the scrap supplies, we have the same pink kitchen set from costco and after so many months of my girls playing hard with it the screws in the hinges were loose – could’t find any gorilla glue, so shoved in some stampin up clear glue and it worked like a charm – too funny.

What a difference 365 days make :) Looks like Anna had a lovely 1st birthday and best of all, she’ll know that she did when she’s older because you have the photos (and will have the layouts) to show her. She’s absolutely gorgeous and I hope the next year is a good one for all of you.

What lovely photos, especially the one with Simon & Anna in their chairs. By the way, hope you are able to watch Henry Louis Gates Jr’s series Faces of America on PBS. Fascinating and lots of ties into your Y&T class.

I’m so glad it was a happy time for all of you. Some birthdays can go wrong when they are that little. She is to precious for words, beutiful eyes and sweet smile. Love the matching chairs with them so cute. Your house is beutiful also. Simon and Anna are so lucky to have each other and two great parents. Happy first year to all of you. The birthday hat you made her was the best, I showed it too my girls and they loved it on her. Have a Happy Valentines Weekend with your family.

Just got a chance to read this – love the inspiration as I have been dreaming of my daughters first birthday for at least three months – and it is still 4 months away. I would love to find a ceramic one like that. Love that she is a baldy still.

Ali- Happy (belated) Birthday to your sweet little Anna! I’ve really enjoyed watching her grow over the past year on your blog and have been inspired by your layouts of her (and Simon!). My little girl turns 1 on March 10th- so much fun! :) I was wondering if you wouldn’t mind sharing which colors you chose for the poms? And did you pick a mobile instead of individual poms? We’re working out details for a party next month and I love this idea, especially since her nursery could use a little color too. -Thank you!

Anna is such a sweetie! I love the photo of her with the cake by herself but love the one of her and Simon in their cute chairs even better :) Love the party decorations – I had been hoping to have some tissue paper pom-poms for my daughter’s 1st birthday in May too so your pic is getting bookmarked for further inspiration :)
