Introducing A New Class At Big Picture Classes | One Little Word

I am super excited to announce a new year-long class I'm running at Big Picture Classes: One Little Word.

If you're not familiar with the One Little Word concept, you can read some of my previous posts here: 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010.

HERE'S THE BASICS FOR THIS CLASS :

For 2011, I want to do something even more tangible with my One Little Word. I've found that, just like a resolution, it's easy to lose sight of the things you set forward to embark on as regular life gets busy throughout the course of the year. To combat this I plan to bring my word into my life more consciously and concretely and make it more visible by creating an album to hold my thoughts, challenges and inspirations.

You're invited to join me on this journey.

Each month you'll receive an email and an invitation to visit the One Little Word classroom. Inside the classroom, you'll find a gentle reminder message, encouragement to refocus, and a simple creative project to complete related to your word. At the end of the year you'll have an album that celebrates and honors your word - making it that much more concrete and visible in your life.

Click on over to Big Picture to listen to an audio introduction, read more details, and register. Class begins on January 1. I hope you'll join me in this opportunity to make your word more visible in 2011.

Please note: Even if you don't choose to participate in this workshop I'll be doing my annual post about One Little Word closer to January 1. Reading through all the comments is always such an inspiring way to begin the year.

    Ali,
I have been thinking about my word for a few weeks already. One word grabbed hold and hasn't let me go whereas in past years I have had to struggle to come up with a word. I am hoping this one really makes a difference because it chose me, in a way. I am looking forward to the one little word journey.

The word I chose for 2010 was "Change" and all I can say is was it ever a perfect word to have. My life changed in so many ways and on purpose for once and I am much happier now than I have ever been because I actually did change in so many ways. The word for 2011 is still mulling around upstairs as I really look inside myself and decide what I am shooting for this year! Thanks so much for this Ali. You are a life changer!

I jumped out of my chair when I got the email from BPC the other day!!! I have already picked my 2011 word and I thought about doing a monthy journal/art book approach to it ... then I thought, "I wish Ali would do a class. That would be awsome." AND THEN BAM!! I'm so super excited, I've already told several people and two people want to take the class too!!

I love this. I have been seeking ways to reflect, journal, and generally be more present lately. I will definitely join this one! (by the way, thanks for the introduction to Reverb10--that's kept me journaling this month!)

Ali, Did your word have anything to do with Matisyahu? If you are unfamiliar I have some inspiration for you already! Hoping to get the class for Christmas... :)

Ooohh, I love Matisyahu's music! He's an incredible artist! :)

Matisyahu is a Jewish reggae singer. I first heard his son 'King without a Crown' on a rock station that normally plays very hard rock and metal. They had so many requests they had to play it. It brought tears to my eyes. I thought your word choice might have something to do with his new(ish) album Light. 'One Day' is the song to hear from that album, if you only pick one. But I also like 'I Will Be Light'. He is definately worth the iTunes search. Don't know if he is on Pandora or a similar site. He is one artist whom I recommend to everyone regardless of their musical taste.

Hi Marsaille - I have no idea what/who Matisyahu is :). Would love to know!

    Ali,

I peeked at your little word and had already come up with mine. They are the same! Since 2010's word was pushed aside by day to day things, I'm totally stoked to be taking the ONE WORD journey with you next year. I just signed up for the class (my Christmas gift to myself) and can't wait to begin.

I just signed up for your class and am excited to be a part of something new. I've thought about having one word in the past but just never did. Still narrowing my word down-have about 3 or 4 that I like. Couple Questions for you. Scrapbook.com doesn't have any of the refill pack yet. Do you know of another store that sells that and We R Memory keeper albums so I don't have to pay for 2 different shippings? Also what white cardstock are you using and where do you buy that? I am limited to scrapbook stores in my area and usually have to buy online for specific things.

I'm pretty sure that 2Peas has them as well. Also - you definitely don't have to have a We Are Memory Keepers album - it's just the one I'm using. You simply need an 8.5x11 album. As for cardstock - I usually buy the orange peel texture from Bazzill. Scrapbook.com has that here: http://store.scrapbook.com/bb-10-1023.html

2 peasinabucket doesn't carry the we r memory keeper albums which is what I want. I'll keep looking and may just have to pay the extra shipping. Thanks!

I am super excited about this and just signed up for the class. :) A few words come to mind but they seem to be more defined/direct and the words I see that you have chosen can be characterized as more broad. Should the word be something more broad or is direct alright also? I'm sure there isn't a right or wrong, I just wanted to hear your thoughts on it....
    Thanks!

Hi Chrissy - you're right that there's no right or wrong. I think it really depends on what's happening in your life and your own personal situation. For me, I've always liked that my words can have a bunch of different meanings (some of which I don't even think of in the beginning).

Just signed up, and I'm really excited. I recently started reflecting on this year's word, and what next year's word should be. Glad I still have a few more weeks left in December so I can take the time to come up with a word that feels right.

I love your secret secondary word of athlete, and everything you were able to manifest with that word!

Ali, I signed up right away and am so excited! I have a question about the album, though. Will I be able to take your prompts/inspiration and do a digital album? Or should I go ahead and buy the page protectors you suggested?

Hi Kendra - you probably will be able to take what I'm doing and make it digital. Most of the projects will include printables (in both pdf + png formats) so you definitely could make it digital if you wanted. The main thing to keep in mind are the different page sizes (the first page in the album is 5x7). Hybrid is really the way I'm heading with the projects.

I just signed up! I really kept my word for 2010 in focus by making layout of it and hanging it on the wall across from my bed. It helped me make some good decisions in respect to my job. I can't wait for the class to begin!

I'm not Ali but she responded to one of my questions and said we didn't have to use the We R Memory Keeper albums-we could use whatever 8 1/2 x 11 album so I assume they'll fit. I thought I also read on the description of the product at scrapbook that it fits any album.

It's going to be a Great new year and I'm looking forward to spending some of my time with you. Blessings
