Here's the left side:
The biggest addition this past week were the sweet little Valentine's Simon got from his classmates.
I slipped them into an 8.5 inch x 11 inch 9-pocket baseball card style page protector.
All the pockets include two valentine's and some of them have been folded to fit. They were almost all just about the right size.
And the second insert:
Simon received a Star of the Week award for being accepting and calm during transitions. Go Simon Go!
I don't have anything for the back just yet but will find something to slip into the page protector.
And a close up on the right side:
Both the kids were under the weather on Friday and Saturday with fevers. We had a deliciously mellow weekend.
In that bottom photo of Simon he's all wrapped up in a minky blanket sent to him from Kristina at Quilted Treasures (one of my site sponsors). It's pretty safe to say that he's in lovewith this blanket. It's been an almost constant companion since opening the box. He can be a tough kid to find things he really loves (especially related to clothing + textures) so this was a really wonderful gift. Thanks Kristina!

Thanks for sharing, Ali! I am loving this project, which allows me to document the day-to-day memories while keeping up with our family's busy schedule. I really like how you incorporate all the small pieces of life in your album - your postings are always full of great ideas! Thanks, again!

the more I see of your project life, the more I want to take part. I know that it can be anything you want it to be, but I admit, I am afraid to take the leap into trying to document the whole year. I am "this close" to taking the plunge though!

Hi Kris - you can do it! I'm not even thinking about it as being a year-long project, I'm just focusing on one week at a time...and even then I'm keeping it low key with very little pressure.
I think one of the things that's also helping me stay on top of it is posting it each week here. It gives me a deadline and helps me keep it less complicated...when the week is done, it's done.
Kris, I've been so inspired by Ali that I started two weeks ago, I'm in Australia & can't get a kit so I'm DIY-ing my own & copying the layout of the page protectors & sticking my journalling cards & photos on a 12x12 paper & popping it into a normal page protector. It's working well, I may backtrack but probably not. Best thing is it's got me taking way more photos!
After only two weeks of deliberating, I have decided to order my kit and back track to January 1. I so love the idea of being able to keep those little scraps of everyday life...unlikely I would do that in my current "traditional" layouts. Although, when I told my husband he reminded me that this is the way scrapbooking was originally done, back when his mother "scrap booked". I love both ways and I'm thrilled that both are options.
GO for it ladies! However you decide to do it... it will work for you. I did my first one last year, starting in May (and backtracking... not recommended). Some months, I document our life, others... it's a trip or special occasion that takes more space. I love the flexibility and the way I can save tiny things that are documents of our life right now. And later, the kids can divide it up however they want!
i'm the same kris...however, these photos this month sparked something in me. i'm taking the leap and ordering the kit. (hoping they're still available!) i'm not sure if i'll go week by week or month by month...or maybe a combo of both? in the meantime the days are passing by and i'm not recording/documenting anything, so it will be nice to turn that around. happy holiday monday!
I've had the same feeling for the last few years, Kris. I finally jumped on board this year....I tweaked it to work better for me....I'm doing one two page spread for each month of 2011. Now THAT I think I can do. :-)
I'm still finishing up my January pages: http://bit.ly/gCWa3H
Have fun with whatever you decide to do!

i immediately related to the tazo calm tea and netflix envelope...staples in my family's life. i signed up for this at the beginning of the year and have yet to start it...or even order the kit. i'm not sure why i've been on the fence, i love the idea, but the task seems slightly overwhelming! but looking at these photos this month and your matter-of-fact way of putting it together have given me some confidence. it doesn't have to be as difficult as i've made it to be in my mind. i think i'll take the leap. :)

You can do it! I'm really trying (and finding myself successful this time) of not making too big a deal of this project. I'm letting it happen, sticking stuff in as I remember, and being flexible.

Love the valentines inclusion! I want to include my kindergartener's valentines in his school scrapbook, but he's not ready to relinquish them yet. He's too busy playing scrapbook on his own with them. :)

Maybe I'll do something like that with my son's Valentine's (although we have around 50 because he goes to two schools). His favorite scrapbook page is where I did a collage of his Valentine's one year. He loves to look at the Valentine's and look at all the little details. Thanks for the idea!

I love how you are approaching this. This is my 3rd year doing Project Life and I love how you said something about getting the essence of the week - not worrying so much about the daily. That has helped me make my album more meaningful! Thanks!
