Today I’m sharing a recent layout I did for Nichol Magourik’s free Scrapbook Stamping class at Two Peas In A Bucket. The topic for July is using stamps to create backgrounds for layouts.
Here’s a look at the full page:
An easy technique to draw a bit of attention to one of the stamped phrases is to change the color of the ink. Super simple and a cool way to use some of those text stamps you might have in your stash. I used the Life Is Good stamp from my Ordinary Days stamp set (Two Peas | Scrapbook.com) to create the repeated text pattern. The “wonderfully ordinary average day” stamp is also included in that set.
JOURNALING | Dear Sweet Anna Girl – today I want to celebrate you and all the awesomeness that you are. The little moments have always been my favorite and it’s no different when I look at you. Seeing you enjoy life…seeing you navigate being two…seeing you grow and talk and and sing and draw and swim and play – all things I love so very much. Life is good with you baby girl. You are happy and silly and we love you so very much. Right now I’m really looking forward to summer with you. So much love to you Anna….love Mom.

I really, really love this, Ali.
Love the simple stamping idea
Beautiful layout Ali! I’m wondering how you choose which ink pads you use. I’m just getting into stamping (using your Tech. Tues. subscription) and I’ve been using a black staz on pad, but would like to branch out to color. Do you have any guidelines when choosing which brand/type? Thanks in advance for helping with this.
And I am praying for Lily. Dogs are so so precious!!
I have exactly one set of colored ink pads so I am no expert at all – but I love the ones I have! It’s a ColorBox Cat’s Eye Queue with 6 little pads in a wonderful range of pinks and reds and I love that the colors look really great together. Hope this helps!
Hi Martha – I don’t have any specific guidelines. Right now I’ve been really happy with the Jenni Bowlin inks, Tim Holtz’ distress inks, the chalk inks from ColorBox, and Close To My Heart.
i am in love with these layouts. might be my fave.
love all the goodness you put out.
Ali, I love how you just capture the simple moments and journal “to” your children. This will mean so much to them in the future.
OH goodness how awesome is this page. Love everything about it!
I will have to check out that class at 2 peas! What a great idea!
OMG WAY TO DARLING….SHE IS A CHARMING CUTIE…love the layout Ali.
We have a 20 month old (she is my great neice)who reminds me of Anna…she is so fun as I am sure Anna is for your family. ( i am so partial ’cause her name is Anna which was my Mom’s name) Blessings….have to take a class with you live in person and meet you at Creative Escape!
hugs,
sharon
Between you and Nichol I don’t know who inspires me more! This is so great. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing!! SO wanting/needing to create today…will heck out that class later today:)
Pink + purple = a color combination we don’t see you do often. I like.
Hugs -
**LOVE** – no other words necessary…
Ali,
I’m wondering how you are liking the Copic marker? I know you’ve been a big fan of the AC pens in the past. Thanks.
I like them – the Copic Multiliners – I’ve been using both (whichever one I grab).
I Love it!!! Your journaling Ali, made me almost tear up…
Thanks for showing.
Love!! Does anyone know if the Ordinary Day stamp is part of the monthly Technique Tuesday subscription? Doesn’t appear to be – but don’t want to buy it and have it be August’s stamp!!
Thinking of your family, Ali. Hugs.
Hi Sarah – this one is not part of the subscription. Here’s a link to it at Scrapbook.com: http://store.scrapbook.com/ty-ordin.html
Thanks Ali. Its a perfect page to lift for my A (Alexandra), who is almost the same age as your A
Have a great weekend.
This is so precious and perfect colors for Miss Anna. I was hoping you would have a layout with her photo in the tutu for us. This is just darling and shows so much love you have for her. Thanks for sharing this.
It was so nice to have a happy post to go along with your sad post today. I made sure to read the sad then this beautiful one just to make me smile.
I really love this page! I like all about it. Especially the photos and the colors.
Greetings from Germany!
Maria
Hi Ali – Where can you get that cute overlay on the tutu picture?
Thanks! I drew that – I could definitely make it into an overlay.

Just got the notice, have not listened, thought you and Chris) could make your own decisions there.
What a sweet layout! Little Miss Anna is such a cutie! Love her!
I love this layout! Did you draw on the hearts and lines photo or did you do that some other way?
Can you please tell us how Lily is doing ?
Hi Susan – I added an update to my post this morning. She made it through and is home recovering.
I love highlighting the beauty of the wonderfully, ordinary, average day.
Thanks for the pdf’s! This will be my first time trying something like this. I’m excited to give it a go. Thanks for the inspiration Ali! ~Amy Tara~
simply precious! thanks for the inspiration!
“Life is indeed GOOD” for allowing me to see this design. Stamping texts and highlighting one phrase gives emphasis on what you want to imply on your design! A scrapbook is not just about the design nor the pictures – Rather it is about memoirs being cherished and narrated in a compiled art book, hence captions/quotes should be properly emphasized!
