PROJECT OBSERVATIONS | One thing I haven’t really focused on this year is the collection of stuff. For me that usually translates to receipts, written notes, grocery lists, etc. I’ve been grabbing a few here and there but not nearly in the same quantity as in the past. I’m totally fine with that. I’ve loved having the stuff component in the past. This year I might just use my email archives and include some of those snippets if I need filler content when it comes to filling the divided page protectors.

Im loving seeing your photos Ali and can’t wait to see it all come together, Im looking forward to starting mine next week, I would like to think after 2 weeks of being sick I will be heaps better and able to do it….
So inspiring as always Ali. Do you think you’re using less stuff this week because you’ve included so much of that in your Project Life album throughout the year? Just curious.
I do think that’s part of the reason why. I’m also just home more – less out and about (which is one of the big ways I acquire stuff).
Loved the pictures and seeing Anna thru her day and her cute little dress. So happy to Simon on his bike and looking so happy and proud riding it. The ones of Chris and Simon are always sweet. What a beautiful bed you have and love the #4 pillow.
I’m not collecting stuff for this either, so much of that has been going into my PL so I’m not worried about it. Have to say thank you for those download worksheets, they are helping me so much track my day and thinking of the thoughts one during the day. I will include these in my album.
Happy Thursday everyone keep up the fun we are almost to the end.
yes, i agree the downloads have also really kept me organized. thank you again, ali!
Gorgeous and inspiring, Ali. Thank you.
Great photos Ali, simple everyday beauty!
What is the name of the paint on your bedroom walls? I love it! It’s just the perfect colour for what I am looking for.
Hi Elizabeth – it was there when we moved in
– no idea.
So a non-scrapbooking question….before I upgrade to the new Mac OS. Are you still having trouble getting your scanner to work properly with your computer?
Yes but I haven’t tried again – the response I’m getting is that the system doesn’t support Power PC anymore. Will be working on that today.
Love the picture of Anna wearing the cape. I would love to have a picture of me with my red towel cape pretending to be wonder woman when I was little. I started my week on Saturday and i can’t believe it’s almost over. Even on the days I couldn’t think of anything to photograph-when I looked a little closer I found more. I love WITL! Thank you so much!
You’ve captured so many great moments of your family Ali. That little Anna of yours is so, so precious. It’s been interesting to see everyone wearing long sleeves with your mild Oregon weather this week. In contrast, our summer has been so hot here in Missouri that my son rarely wore a shirt last week when I captured our Week in the Life.
You have such amazing light in your home. Are you shooting most of those indoor shots with your 50mm 1.4 lens (wide open at 1.4). I played around a lot last week with indoor natural light and had to up my ISO to as much as 6400 to get a good exposure with my 2.8 lens, and am thinking that a couple more f-stops would make a big difference.
My 50mm is broken – I’m using only a 24-70 (2.8). Every once in awhile I need to got that high with my ISO – but really I’ve been keeping it right around 400. Outside I’ve pretty much been doing 100. My photos are far from technically perfect – but they are capturing our days.
Great photos! My almost-2 daughter has the same boots as Anna. She wears them to go into the “jungle.” (Our dining room.) Love this project Ali!
1. LOVE the idea of the chalkboard wall in the Drawing photo!!! LOVE IT!
2. thanks for the reminder to always always ALWAYS reach in your ‘reaching’ photo
3. Simon is kinda geetting used to this biking riding thing (from the ‘riding’ photo), isnt he??! Yeah for Simon!
4. Ummmm I’m jealous of your washing maching from the ‘washing’ photo
5 i so love the emotions in the father/son moments in the ‘watching’ and ‘teaching’ photo
Love your Wednesday photos, very inspiring. You can see my Wednesday pictures at http://www.scrapflicka.blogspot.com.
I am really enjoy my first WITL project and find your pdf sheets very useful to remember what the days look like. I’ve had a crazy Thursday so far, trying to pack for a two week stay at my father in laws and didn’t have time to take as many photos as I wanted but I’ll just have to snap a few more tonight when we get there. Thanks for sharing and inspiring us!
Ali, What lens do you generally use for your daily photos? ta
24-70, 2.8
thanks xx
I completely forgot about all the ‘stuff.’ Ah, well. Really having fun with the photos and all the journaling though! Thanks for the project and all the support to keep us going on this fun journey.
Ali – where did you get your chalkboard, we could use one of those in my daughter’s room! Love the dailies, really enjoying this, so glad I’m a part of it – THANKYOU for inspiring my creativity this week!
It’s actually chalkboard paint. We painted it on there last year (there’s magnetic paint underneath – which isn’t really strong enough). You can find chalkboard paint at hardware stores.
Love seeing your pictures. Love your blackboard if I had one i think I would be standing there all day doodling
Love seeing Simon off on his own riding that bike! My week in the life is almost over
As I had started on Saturday but I have loved ever minute of this journey. I might do this own my own again the week before school starts. Thank you so much for all your inspiration shared.
I love the word “working” next to the thing I would love most to do at work!!
Your photos are amazing. I want to thank you for hosting this project. Although my days are quite repetitive, I am really enjoying documenting each day.
Way to go Simon on the bike!
love your faucet in the kitchen!
We love that too. We had the same one in our last house and when we moved in here we bought it again.
Loving this project Ali. First time participating in this, and its so awesome to see everyone else’s blog that is doing this also. Opens up so many new blogs to everyone and much inspiration to new bloggers. Thank you!
Yeah for Simon! I am excited that he is riding his bicycle.
Hi Ali, your pictures are great! My son has those same green boots and wants to wear them all the time. I caught a picture of him in them on Tuesday. This is my first time doing a WITL and it’s been great! Thanks.
simon on his bike makes me smile
oh man, just when i thought you weren’t going to put your photo number and then i see 85……)@*#&@#@)*( LOL!!!!
Just remember that there can be 10 in a row of a similar scene
.
It’s my first year of doing this and I’m loving it, Loving seeing simon ride his bike.
85 photos… I wish I could remember to take as many photos as you… :/
Just remember that there can be 10 in a row of a similar scene
.

I LOVE the photo of her dipping her feet in the sinK!
too CUTE!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE this project Ali!
tara
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the words for each picture!! So scrap-lifting this for today!! Thanks ALi!
I think my favorite photos you post always have beds in them-you have such a comfy space for your children. Love your style
Great captures!
I am link 100 two days in a row! Total coincidence!!! What are the odds.
I’m having so much fun. Now if I can just get everything into an album at the end of the week – that is where I always falter. I’m more prepared this year, so fingers crossed. : )
I love seeing how different everybody’s lifes are.. Its a lot of fun. I’m proud of myself for keeping up. My down turn is getting the album put together. I can’t decide add to project Life or make its own???decisions!
Thanks Ali!
All linked up, all caught up, feeling relieved and ready to tackle Thursday. Thanks for all the inspiration Ali!
Hey Ali, I apologize if you’ve answered this before, but where did Anna’s hopscotch rug come from? Would love to “pin” that for our someday play room!
It’s from CB2 – I got it a couple years ago – not sure if it is still available.
just checked their website. i agree – so adorable!

hehe, so cute. love the sink shot
can you send your weather to VA please? it’s hot here all week & gathering from your everyday attire, it must be pretty nice! i’ve not been able to run even at 6 am b/c it’s so muggy here. loved your Wednesday photos!
Love everything that you captured for the day. You have a nice mixture of all of the family members. That’s my problem, I always seem to get more photos of some and less of others, despite my best efforts. I am doing my week in the life starting on Sunday. I had a crazy schedule this week, but it’s fun to see everyone else’s photos-it’s making me really excited ot start!
The weather here is getting warmer which means outdoor fun. Water + pools + kids = fun times
Great stuff Ali! I have a kitchen question. Do you like your butcher block/wooden counter tops? Do they require much upkeep? We want to switch, but I’m NOT interested in oiling them or doing anything special to them once they are installed. Thanks!!
They actually faux (were here when we moved in). Nothing special with these ones
.
Love your chalkboard wall and still enjoying your pictures every morning. I decided to start blogging my “adventure” yesterday and also breathing life back into my blog!!
Okay, I love the picture of Anna in the sink. It made me think of my 4 month old and how much fun she will have one day doing that same thing. Also love the story about her hiding her paci– so clever!
Thanks for mentioning that the magnet wasn’t strong enough on your chalkboard wall. Getting ready to do this same thing and will now rethink the magnet paint.
Haha, I love “Pretending”, I still have those moments myself! But not when anyone is around to document it
*hides my cloak in the wardrobe*
anna looks adorable in the sink photo and i love the interaction between Chris & Simon in the “teaching’ photo! beautiful captures Ali:)
Hi Ali,
I love your work. I have been doing WITL since I started my journey of fertility issues with my first child. Now, we are a family of 4.
You mentioned on Monday (i think) that you wanted to add more videos to your posts and I’d like to share my experiece with you.
I found Picasa will convert almost any format of video (.MOI from my camcorder and .QTM from my digi cam) from their program (which is a free download) into blogger (which is what i use for WITL) with the click of the ‘Sync To Web’ button. It’s so much less work (for me) than converting each video into something web-friendly, then adding it to my WITL blog.
The only draw back: the vid doesn’t play in the blog, when it is clicked, it takes you to the picasa album and plays from there.
This may not be the solution you are looking for, but its what works for me and i just wanted to share. Thanks for all you do!
Hugs,
Anmarie
I’ve had my in-laws staying for the last week and haven’t quite got into the routine of taking photos as I would have done in past years, felt a bit uncomfortable doing so. Now I wonder whether I should start again another week or just go with what I have.
I love seeing all of our lives on the blogs. I hop from germany to australie and back to Indonesia. I love it. Love seeing everyones take on this week. I get a lot of inspiration from it. This is my first WITL and totally enjoying it. I think I will mix it with my Project life next time.
great photos, as usual.
Anna is turning into a little girl, not a baby or a toddler any more!! How fast it happens!
I am having a wonderful time doing this project. Thank you so much! I also love looking at your pictures, you take stunning photos.
Loving your WITL. CAn you tell me what type of camera/lens you use…the photos in these posts are amazing!
