Project Life | Week Forty-Four

Welcome to Project Life | Week Forty-Three.
Did you guys catch the really awesome comprehensive post from Lisa about how she tackles Project Life? A whole lot of work went into that explanation. Fun seeing other people's process and ideas.
Lots of inserts this week. It was a full week with family and friends here for the duration + Halloween + my birthday + a weekend at the coast.
Simon brought home a great little award for asking for help (one of his goals). Love those things.
I just cut the top off of a 6x12 page protector to fit the award.
A birthday card fit in the back.
My second insert is a 6x12 divided page protector that holds photos and a piece of a treat bag that my Mom brought for all the kids on Halloween.
Still loving that size as an insert.
One of my favorite pieces from the week is the pirate head/pumpkin that Simon drew and stuck on the door for Halloween. Just awesome.
On the back is my other favorite - Anna's shark drawing from school.
Chris went with Simon on a field trip to a fish hatchery and Simon sent me an email via Chris' phone. Also gotta love the neon red/pink paper for the field trip info.
I'm also a big fan of the bottom left photo of Simon eating tempura when we were at the beach. He's eating a sweet onion in this photo (he ate two of them and a piece of salmon).
Man I love these little stories. Such good stuff.

Ali, are there some 6x12 page protectors that have 3 pockets, and some that don't?? The supply pictures at the end of your post make it look as though the whole 12" space is open, but in the photo of your insert, it looks as though there pockets....
Good to see your pages again. I am planning on doing this project again, and have found inspiration in both your version and Lisa's.

If you click on the link or picture in the supply list, it will take you to amazon. The ones that were used are divided for 3 4x6 photos. You can also get some that are just 6x12 without dividers here. http://store.scrapbook.com/ac-76727.html.

Okay, I just looked again -- so there are AC ones with pockets. Doh. Never mind my question, then! (rolling eyes at myself)

Love your week and how busy and full it was. so many cute ones of the kids and good week for Simon. I'm thinking mine is getting to full and need to but a second binder after all. Love having all these little memories.
I read Lisa's post and loved all that she shared. Very inspiring and helpful for everyone.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks so much for sharing Lisa's post about Project Life. I agree, she put a lot of thought and heart into that post. I hadn't heard of her and I'm happy I left a note of thanks on her blog. Even though I'm quite behind, this project gives me energy each time I pull out my album to work on it. I'm doing my own version next year (8.5x11 album with 1 9-pocket protector/week as the common base) and am looking forward to using a lot more of my stash + stamping and continuing to collect bits and pieces from the week. That's been my favorite part, then the photos, then the journaling ;)

I didn't think I had time to do a full project life, so I am doing a monthly version, with 2 or 3 pages for a full month and have really enjoyed it.
I just ordered the variety pack of page protectors for this next year. At this rate, by 2014 (when my son goes to college) I will be ready to do a full year. Heh.
LOVE reading your blog.

Where did you get your month dividers? We're they part of the project life kit? I just ordered some and mine don't look like that. Mine only have a label at the top, no "11" or dots. Thanks, Shelby

You can buy the new version of the Project Life dividers at Amazon.com. Search the words " Project Life Dividers". They are $7.99 for 15 and come with stickers. I also like the ones that Ali uses from a previous kits, so I am curious to see how people jazz up the plain ones.
Shelby. Those month dividers are from a previous kit. The new kits are more generic so they can be used in any way you want and not tying you down to monthly or chronological Project Life

I am so excited about doing project life next year and doing December daily next month. Thank you for all your inspiration. I've been in a scrapbooking slump and I'm feeling an upswing. Plus I just figured out how to do a screen shot of my calendar on my iPad and I plan on using it for both projects. Happy dance.

I started to read Lisa's blog post, but ran out of time. I still have the tab open, though, so fully intend to read the whole thing. It's very informative and I love looking inside others' processes.
Love the pictures from your week (like always). They tell a really great story! Which brand are the trampolines? I've been looking for one, but not sure how I will store it when it's not in use.

Ali,
Thanks for continuing to share your PL with us. I have been doing it for two years, inspired by you. My kids, 15 and 13, love looking through and contributing to the process.
Query about the DD - sorry it is here in your PL post, but didn't know where else to post a question. I cut my overlays to the 8.5 by 3 inch size and started assembling my SC album (overlay + page protector) and I noticed that the overlays are smaller/shorter than the page protectors. Went back to look at your photos and in your photos it looks like your overlays match in height the page protectors. I know this is a overly picky concern but still I am curious.
Thanks.

Oh I'm sorry - I should probably wait a little longer in the day to answer questions :) - thanks for clarifying. Maybe that's just a difference from one set to another in terms of size? I'm pretty sure I measured first and then cut. And yes, going with the flow is something I do around here all the time :).
Morning Jen - mine measure 6 inches wide x 8.5 inches tall. What's the actual measurement of your printed page? My guess is that in Adobe Reader when you print you want to set the page scaling to "none" (this will retain the original proportions of the page with the crop marks in place).
Morning to you Ali,
Thanks for the thought, I had already discovered the issue (25 printed pages later) with printing in Adobe, but my question had to do with the overlays and the page protectors specifically. I ended up offsetting the holes I punched in the overlays so that they "lined up" with the foundation papers and not the page protectors. Still have a 1/4 inch difference between the top of the overlay and the top of the page protector but trying not to be so picky and going with the flow, as it were.
Thanks for the early morning advice. Have a great day.

Ali- I was wondering where you got your date stamp you use in your project life album?
Replies
Hi Leslie - pretty sure that came with the Project Life kit last year. You should also be able to find one of those at an Office Supply Store or here at Amazon: http://amzn.to/sXsrAU
Hi,
Jo Ann sells the new K&Company SMASH line and they have a date stamp for $5.99... It's even on sale today!

Hi Ali,
I have to ask a DD question I have the WRMK divided page protectors & I know you mentioned you cut them down to have 4 pockets. With that, I'm getting the writing on the side (WRMK) & the holes are not lining up for the SC binder. Did you punch new holes? From your pictures. it did not look like you did. How did you approach it? if you don't mind me asking. Thanks!
Replies
Hi Audra - I cut off the part with the holes. I matched the outer edge of the divided page protectors with the outer edge of the 6x8.5 page protectors and cut off the excess (the excess ends up being on the left side). Then I used a crop-a-dile to punch new holes that matched the album rings.
Thanks Ali! That should help!

I love seeing this weekly posts. My youngest is 16 and I wish I had something like this from when my kids were little. There are so many things we have forgotten. I think this is more important than the actual scrapbooks that I have.

Hey! I'm still up to date! Wow! This is the first yer I used Becky's PL kit, however, I'm a real digital scrapper at heart and it will be my last year for the paper/binder.
Remember, though, Becky also offers a digital PL for $99 I think and this is a real deal. (I'm sure I spent at least double that amount on photo paper and ink cartridges!) The set up is exactly the same, if you check it out: http://beckyhiggins.ziblio.com/

Hey Ali--not that it's any of our business but you posted awhile back about trouble with Chris. You guys have been on my mind & I was just hoping that things are getting better for you guys? I know its tough sometimes with kids, a full work schedule, life. But you two seem to have a great family and I hope things are working themselves out. Just curious.....
