Anyone want to join me in documenting a day in your life this week?
As I was sitting with Simon at breakfast this morning I was thinking that it’s been awhile since I did a full day of documentation. I’m planning to do it this Wednesday, February 8th.
If you’d like to join in all you need to do is wake up on Wednesday (or any day this week) with a commitment to writing down and photographing the course of your day.
To simplify the process you can download my set of my printable Daily Sheets and use whichever day you plan to document.
You can blog about your day, create a layout, add it to your Project Life, etc. I’m thinking I might just include an extra page or two in Project Life.
I’ll share my experience, and include a place for you to link to yours, later this week.
WEEK IN THE LIFE 2012
I also wanted to announce that I’ll be doing the Week In The Life project again this year from April 23rd through April 29th.
You can take a look at past Week In The Life projects here. More details to come.

You know what.. YES I will join you!
Off to print my Daily Sheet
So excited for both!
oooh! I want to play! What a great way for me to try it out. Marking my calendar for April as well.
I actually did a Day in the Life a couple of weeks ago but still haven’t had the chance to do a post about it. I’ll be using those pictures to join you!
I am thinking how uneventful our life is these days … however I am going to give it a go. Printing off the sheet now. Maybe I can borrow a couple of littles to make things more exciting … lol.
I threaten to do this kind of thing all the time, and since my one little word for this year is connect, I think I just will! Hopefully it will help me connect with my day and my creativity a little more for a day
I remember trying to do “A Day in Our Life” when my son was only a few months old — trying to document how a day changed from month-to-month. Totally flopped after about 4 months.
I totally think I’m ready to try it again! Maybe not monthly, but as a one-day thing, definitely!
as I pack for Disney World this week, this will be a lot of fun! Can’t wait. Printing off my sheets now.
The perfect week!
Thank you.
Such great timing! I just finished my Week in the Life album for 2011 and am sharing on my blog this week. Count me in for both
I’m joining you. Thanks for the heads up – gives me a goal for Wednesday to look forward too. thanks.
I’m definitely in! I had an idea in the back of my head a week or so ago that I should do a day in the life post for a PL layout, and then it was gone as soon as I had the thought! I’m so glad you brought this idea up!
Have a great Monday!
You know what…I’m in! Always wanted to do this but never get around to it.
Question for you Ali. The photos in the picture above…did you crop 9 photos into a 4×6 photo paper and printed? I’m trying to figure out how you did that.
I think for Wednesday, I’m going to take the approach of just using Instagram on my iPhone instead of lugging my Nikon SLR around all day:)
I love your idea of using Instagram! I have some page protectors that take 4×4 pictures that I need to use up and this would be the perfect project for them.
Never mind! I just answered my own question by following your link to last years week in the life project of yours.
I would also love to hear how you made the 9×9 grid into a 4×6 photo. Thanks!
Hi Kim – those are not 4×6 images – they are 8.5×11.
I would love to know how you do this Ali! have you done a tutorial somewhere before on how to accomplish this?? SO awesome!!
not sure how Ali does it.. but I think I know what your asking..I use the template that she is using … put all my pics in.. THEN resize it to fit into the template spots.. so basically resizing the template to fit inside the template.. Hope that makes sense
I love the look!
I am sure she does it waaaaaay easier
Cheers,
Jan
How exciting! I’ll definitely do the day in the life this week. It is amazing to think how my daily life is different now that my daughter is in preschool. Wednesday is my volunteering day, too, so it will be fun to capture that.
yep Im in!! I actually have a rather busy weds. so I’ll take that day on. I always love doing your little daily commitments, weekly lifts, witl, olw, and project life. Thank you for spreading such amazing inspiration!
I’ve been flirting with the idea of doing week in the life this year, and now knowing that it’s my birthday week…consider it confirmed!
YAY! It’s my first time doing both! So excited! My husband + 2-yr- old…not so much lol.
HOORAY FOR DAY IN THE LIFE!! That is the day before my daughter will be 15 and I babysit my 2 sweet little cousins so it will be a jammed packed day. This will be nice to include in the PL for the week!! Thanks Ali for the idea and including us!!
I marked the dates in April as well. Happy Monday!!
Motivation to get the last remaining pieces of 2011 album stuck down
I’m thinking about an all digital book this year – maybe through blurb or something. I really like how Elise Blaha’s book came together last year with the Kolo system.
Yes, yes, yes!!! I can’t wait!!
Can’t wait to join you for both! I did Week in the Life for the first time last year and loved it! Thanks so much for your inspiration. Printing off the sheets for sure.
YES, YES AND YES!!
Yes !! Following along from India and attempting to do Project Life this year … so this will be a fun change!
heck yeah!!!! i will join in!
I telecommute and only go to my actual office located half the continent away maybe 20 days a year, if that. It so happens that I will be there on Wednesday. It would be a very unique day in my life to capture and one practically no one at home sees. I am in, but will be pure iPhone shots as the big camera isn’t making the voyage. What an interesting look at “my” day this will be as usually it is far different that it is on these travel weeks.
I’m So SAD that my camera lens (18-55mm) is acting up… the auto-focus isn’t working at all, the lens makes a strange noise and it doesn’t want to snap pictures. Might have to dig out my old camera while I try to figure out what to do with this one. SUCH A SAD, SAD DISCOVERY…. sniff, sniff!
My lens recently died (same one) too. I took it to a local shop and they sold me a “remanned” one for a very good price, and it works wonderfully. The “remanned” one was actually just one someone traded in when they bought a bigger lens and they tweaked it a bit. Good luck and sorry for your troubles, I’ve been there.
Looking at your printed photos today on your blog …
what kind of printer/program do you use? They are great!
Iam new to this and love your look and ideas.
What good advice can you give me to start.
Thank you…
Jan
I am in for both!
How exciting!!! I will be participating in both!! Thank you Ali!
Question for you: how do you choose your dates? Just curious if you have a particular week/date in mind that you want to feature or if you randomly pick a week/date.
Thanks for encouraging us and reminding us to do this. It’s one of my favorite things you do.
The last few years I’ve done one in April, one in October, one last summer and then decided to do it again for 2012 before summer (summer wasn’t my favorite time to document). After deciding on the month I take a look at my calendar and choose a week that “looks typical” – we aren’t out of town, etc.
I’ll join in! Looking forward to it!
it will be my first time….so excited!
Mary
Count me in! I’ll be at work all day though so I’ll have to be sneaky with my photo taking.
I’m in Ali. I have the sheets from the last Week in the life. Thanks
Ooo–can’t wait! Spontaneous projects are always good! =)
I’m in … new job … new photography victims..er, subjects! Looking forward to it!
Count me in! I did Week In The Life last fall for the first time and LOVED it! I can’t wait to do it again and in the mean time work on a Day In The Life. Fun!
Oh, Ali, how perfect! I visit my 89-year-old mom, who lives 110 miles away, at least once a month and I’ll be there this Wednesday. I take Mom grocery shopping, out to lunch, and just get her out of her house for a bit. Then I change her sheets, do her laundry, vacuum, wash floors, dust, scour bathrooms, etc., and I’m so busy when I’m there that I never even think about documenting our time together. Shame on me! Heaven only knows how many more of these mother-daughter ‘overnights’ we’ll be able to share.
This time I will wear my camera around my neck and click away! I’m so excited about documenting some of our conversations, too. I know I will be creating what will become very treasured memories.
Thanks so very much, Ali.
I love that your day will be all about what you do with your Mom at this point in time. Awesome.
I’ve been thinking about doing a separate day for each of my kids focusing on one at a time to include in each of their annual photo albums. I like hOw Week in the Life focuses on our family as a whole, but a day in the life could be specific to each child. Guess now is the time to get it done! Thanks for the inspiration!
Love that idea…
Me too!
well.. i’ll try it for sure.. Having lost my iphone i just wonder how i’ll make it possible to take pictures while at the office but i may find something !!!
I’m for both as well. Last time I did the Week my dog died the first day, but I did my week anyway but didn’t post it. I hope for a more normal week and day this time althought I have a nice tribute to my dog.
Yay! I am excited both to have the dates for Week in the Life and to consider the idea of Day in the Life. And as I sit here typing that, I realize how absurd it might sound to think that I have to “wait” to do these types of projects…but I guess that speaks more to the idea of doing it with a community than just because. I hope?
Hope your week is wonderful!
I’m “in” for Week in the Life. My first time was last summer, and loved it.
I’ve never done A Day in the Life. I was looking at your archives for an example of the last one you’ve done…do you have a link to share?
I don’t – I haven’t done it before like this
.
Eww ewwww…I’m due that week and since its our first I’m sure that week will be super special and full of excitement. Can’t wait!!
I’m in. Also love the idea of doing a day for each child. Maybe I’ll print off 3 sheets: one for me/hubs, one for each child. hmmm….
Yes! When you did WITL this past summer, it was a crazy busy time for us (new baby, moving, renovation, etc.) so I was only able to capture one day. I added it to my PL and was so glad I did. Life with a new born is such a blur and looking back at what I documented was so special. I still can’t believe how much we had going on.
Looking forward to Wednesday. Do you think you’ll be using a template for you photos that day?
It’s a lot of fun to document a day in our lives!
I’ve done it twice- once showing a vacation day and once showing a crazy, busy day.
http://boysmyjoys.blogspot.com/search/label/A%20Day%20in%20the%20Life
But, I think I need to document just a ‘normal’ day!
I’m going to join you!
Looking forward to both DITL and WITL. Although, I haven’t done anything with the pictures I took for WITL this past summer…except get them printed, which is HUGE just all on its own! I just cut back on the number of hours I’m working every week so I can have more time for these types of projects, along with my normal scrapbooking!
I am in the same boat as you,LOL…got my pictures printed, but thats it.Just don’t seem to have enough time in a day…always amazed at people that get it done right away…I am not there yet but hope to cut back on something to make time because I really do love this project:)
