December Daily™ 2012 | Day Six

Home sweet home once again. Today was mainly a travel day as I made my way back home from New York.

I was definitely ready to get home and get down to the business of merry making around my house (and have better lighting for this album/potentially not be working on it so late in the evening/getting a little more crafty, take off my chipping nail polish, settle into the season here at home, etc). Loved coming home to the twinkle lights on my front porch – seemed like the perfect thing to include today (and as you might be able to see I still have a few pumpkins on my porch and the lights/greenery need to be adjusted around the door).

Across the spread I added my boarding passes with a bit of washi tape to keep them in place.

How’s it going with your own project this year?

Also wanted to share a really nice write up in my local paper that came out earlier this week that talks a bit about my story and features December Daily™: Register Guard Article.

Ali, nice write-up at The Register Guard! My fave line:

“What happens if they are worrying about perfect?” she asks. “It doesn’t get done,” she answers, “and then they don’t get to celebrate life in this way.”

    Spot on.

I had some really great sturdy pumpkins one year, so instead of throwing them out in December I spray painted them gold and silver and put greenary around their stem and used them as part of my Christmas decor. The kids really enjoyed that concept. :)

Thank you for including the link to the story. Earlier this week I sent it to my One True Love. I think he understands a bit better now why it is I do what I do, memory keeping.

I brought the pumpkins in off the porch, but I still need to cook and puree them. Your porch looks lovely and I love the photo you used for your homecoming.

Nice article! I was just speaking to my DS about changes in the “job” world — that there is now a job title “blogger” … apparently “scrapbooker”!

I just wanted to add that I love how you aren’t just doing “Christmas stuff with the family” in this. Makes me feel better about my own book since I haven’t had much time to do anything particularly Christmas-y yet.

I no longer blog & often don’t get to crafty stuff as much anymore… but I LOVE, LOVE this project and make time for it. It’s my 5th year and I’m using just a moleskin blank journal & keeping it simple with supplies I’ve got, but that is so reflective of where I’m at right now too. THANK YOU Ali for continuing to share this tradition with the online world. Just shared the news story link on FB for my friends – you should be so proud of the trinkle effect you’ve started of inspiring people to live & embrace this beautiful season.

Ali, I love how you’re keeping it simple this year. A great lesson that a simple scrapbook can be just as powerful. the important thing is the memories within it. This is my fourth year doing the December Daily, and I am just doing a simple Shutterfly album this year, ever day I upload my pics and it only takes about 15 minutes.
Thank you for your continuing inspiration!
