Welcome to Katie’s Project Life 2013 | Weeks Three & Four.
Wow– this project rocks! I am so enjoying putting it all together.
This week was all about adjusting back to work and real life after being gone for CHA. Peter’s family came for a visit for the weekend so I needed to put my living room back together after the big paint job. I am loving the white.
I used my cursive typewriter to journal on the card next to Paolo and I. Love that thing. I found it at Goodwill for $2.
The “hello sun” is from Ali’s Hello Summer 3×4 Life Boxes. This time rather than using the Silhouette to cut it out I just added the PNG file to the photo and printed it with Photoshop.
The two yellow journal cards are from Pebbles Seen & Noted 3×4 Journaling Cards. They are so fun.
The “Hello Beautiful” is a file that came with the Silhouette Studio Software. I was playing around with the new Silhouette Sketch pens (the pen replaces the blade so instead of cutting it sketches the design) and loved how it turned out so I decided to slip it into a pocket this week. I LOVE those sketch pens. I am so excited to try out all of the colors, including the glitter and metallic ones.
Here’s a look at Week Four:
It was Mr. Simon’s 11th birthday this week. I can’t believe he’s 11. Where does the time go? He was 7 when I started nannying for him. It’s been so special to watch him grow these last 4 years.
I also had a great week of thrifting, and found a great little grey typewriter. I added Ali’s “this is love” from The This Is Love Brushes and Stamps, because of course, I love typewriters.
On the photo of Anna, I added these cute ombre stickers from Studio Calico’s new Sundrifter Collection.
The “pie” stickers are from Dear Lizzy’s new Lucky Charm collection (available soon).
We went to a fun to bar on Saturday night that had mason jars for the glasses and vintage suitcases and cameras for decorations. So fun!
The “cheers” is from Ali’s Joking Around Brushes and Stamps.
IDEA | Add two 3×4 cards (these are from the Seafoam Core Kit) to a 4×6 photo using Freckled Fawn Pink Airmail Washi Tape. The tabs to open them are from October Afternoon’s Farmhouse and 5 & Dime Word Sticker Sheets.
Inside the flaps I put two 3×4 photos on a 4×6 canvas in Photoshop, printed it out, added the cards with washi tape and then journaled on the back of the card for the corresponding photo. It turned out really fun, I will definitely be doing it again. It’s a great way to add some hidden journaling and hide some crazy photos from our night out on the town.

great pages! I love that last idea…must steal it soon!
Love your pages Katie! Very inspiring. Can’t wait to start PL someday myself. Thanks for sharing!
Have enjoyed your project life shares a lot! It’s always nice to see others perspectives and ideas you’d never think of yourself for photos, “hidden” extras, etc…
I have to ask where you purchased your slipcover sofas & chair in your beautifully done living space? I’m looking to replace our very old loveseat with slipcover furniture! Also want to know about the “red” letters used on Simon’s beautiful b’day cake photo on week 4? I’m attempting to add alpha stickers to my PL supplies here and there!
Can’t wait to see weeks 5, 6 and 7!
Our sofas are from Ikea. They are the “Ektorp” couch. They are very comfy and we love them, it’s so nice to be able to wash the slipcovers!
The letter stickers are old from Amy Tangerine. I don’t think they are available anymore.
Here are some similar ones that just came out.

Thank-you for the information, Katy! Greatly appreciated… so wish we had an Ikea here in New Hampshire. Off to take a peak.
Your pages are so great especially as this is only your 3&4th week! Look forward to your next pages.
Thanks for sharing. I “pinned” your idea using the 4×6 canvas and attaching the cards with washi tape.
Do you collect political pins & buttons?
I don’t, but that would be a fun thing to collect!
Katie
Hi Katie! Thanks for sharing your PL. Your layouts look great;, I love the way you put everything together.
Love seeing your PL pages, Katie!
Hey Katie,
LOVE seeing your LO’s for the PL! They are wonderful and very inspiring. Thanks for your tip at the end with the 2 3X4′s over a 4×6, super cool.
I think I need to buy Photoshop so I can write on and do stuff to my photos!
Ali,
Do you print all of your photos at home and what printer do you use? I want to be able to print as I go so I dont have to wait and be able to use different size photos from 3×4, 4×4, etc….any helpful hints to accomplish this.
Thanks
Kim
Katie,
Great layout and I love that idea with the hidden pics/journaling. Went right onto Pinterest! TFS!
I am loving your Project Life, Katie! The putting the photos and journaling behind the flaps thing? Genius.
Katie, your cat is so handsome. I want to kitty-nap him!

Your PL is awesome!!! I love how you added the 3×4 cards over the 4×6, like little doors:) super cool idea! May need to try that!
Absolutely beautiful!!! I am wondering as I’ve found cool typewriters (maybe not quite so cheap, but…) but I hesitate to buy them because I don’t know where to get ink! Where do you go for your typewriter ribbon supply???
Hi Kim,
I buy my ribbons through mytypewriter.com
They have a great selection!
Katie
Genius! Love the hidden photos and journaling. Can’t wait to try that!
Looks good!! Project Life is so fun
Hi Katie! It has been nice getting to know you through Ali’s blog – great work on the PL album! I have a question for you and Ali – I really enjoy using an old typewriter that I found at a yard sale but haven’t been able to find anywhere besides Amazon.com to purchase the ribbon for it. Do you have any inside tips on a good site to purchase typewriter ribbon?
mytypewriter.com
Katie
Tell us more about your typewriters – I’ve never heard of a “cursive typewriteer” The one in the photo looks so cute! Do you collect typewriters?
Great pages!
Hi Lynn,
The cursive typewriter I found is just a regular typewriter that has a script font instead of the usual font most have. They are pretty rare, but you can find them on Etsy and eBay occasionally. I don’t collect typewriters, but they are my favorite thing to look for when I go thrift shopping for my Etsy shop. I have had good luck in finding them here in Eugene.
Katie
Katie your pages are fun to look at. Thanks for sharing.
I am on the lookout for a cursive typewriter
Thanks for sharing your pages katie, I love them. Your living room is beautiful!! So glad your having fun with Project Life and trying new things!!
Love looking at your pages and seeing how you pull them together, so inspiring. I love the 3×4′s that create that door effect. Amazing!
Hi Ali,
Love your projects… great inspiration in all of them!!
How do you print your photos (3×4 and so on for project life)? Do you use any special programs & or printer?
I am in the market for a new printer and program. I have used
persnickety prints before, but was unhappy with quality of prints.
Thanks so much!
Katie – You are rockin’ PL! Love looking at your pages! And I would kill for your living room – but with a 14 month old, I don’t see that happening.
Love that typewriter, I haven’t heard of a cursive one, will be on the lookout for one!
Love your PL pages.
Hey Kate
Love the way you use a variety of materials so creatively. You have a unique way of describing each page. Looking forward to seeing more.
