We’re on summer holiday and we’ve invited some of our friends to share their voices and projects here over the next 2 weeks. Say hello to Jenni Bowlin:
There’s just something about the summer. . .
that has me yearning for simpler things. Whether its food straight from my garden, leaving the alarm clock off or going without makeup, I always seem to be searching for a step to skip or an easier way. I suppose my crafting is no different.
Several girls on our JBS Mercantile design team have been experimenting with pocket pages and I have grown more than a little curious. Particularly since I am a “one photo” per page girl, I am always left with piles of un-documented 4 x 6 photos and the idea of just slipping them into pockets is intriguing.
I decided to give it a try and started with a particularly large set of photos from an event (in this case a beach vacation). I love working on the smaller pocket cards as individual collages – so much so that I created a new product for Mercantile called “Pocket Stuffers” (thanks to Betsy for the name)!
I took 5 of our most popular Jenni Bowlin Studio paper lines and had them trimmed down to just shy of 3 x 4 so they would slide nicely into the traditional pocket sleeves. These then work perfectly with our Mini Bingo Cards and Mini Decks for quick and easy inserts.
I love staples so I tend to just staple the bingo or mini deck card straight to the pocket stuffer card.
Our “Hear Ye, Hear Ye” Banner Stickers are the perfect size for quick titles.
Add a little stamping for more detail, but either way it’s quick and easy – the two things I like least and most about my summer!
